Xmas leave.

Just been informed tiday,that i am supposed to work xmas eve now.My allocated anuaul leave was 24th to 30th which has been on the rota since last April.Apparently its a cock up in office.Ive already made plans and will not be in.Wots my rights.

Theve cocked it up that's there problem. They can't make you work your week you have booked since April. Tell them your going on annual leave on those days . Get your union rep on board.

These holidays were the ones allocated to me by Rm.

the 24th is not available for annual leave.
I know this as I have got the same week booked as AL and the 24th is still inside the peak pressure.

It’s available where I work, I and and plenty of of others have the the full week off there is the same amount of spaces in the leave book as any other week of the year

We were advised that only the days immediately after boxing day were available as annual leave and anyone booking it should be advised it is available as a part holiday week only!

Anywhere I have worked, if you book the week of Christmas off then you only get the days in the week after Christmas. Any days before Christmas Day have to be worked as part of the Christmas pressure period with no leave allowed.

Morally/ethically it stinks but I think there's something about they could cancel leave as long as they give you same amount of notice as
you've booked - so if you've booked a week of leave then they should give you a week's warning. Not sure where this is written
down in RM policy but the subject has been touched on before:

This was bookrd as part of my 3 weeks allocated leave by Royal mail.Not hols i booked myself.i could uderstand if i booked this week off.its the fact they told us Tuesday.They made the cock up. I wont b going in and now Dom has said i can take it.Not sure wots happening with rest of staff in same situation.Just typical the way RM and lack of communication.
