Can we report Bullying Doms to the police?

Firstly this issue does not directly concern me. I've had my run ins with this assistant Dom in the past. But I have no problem standing up to him. But bullies like to pick on a soft target and he's found one he can treat like s**t. I will add this assistant Dom has had to my knowledge 5 grievances put in against him in the past 5 years. Nothing has ever been became of these, as a matter of fact the last grievance was still lying on the Dom's desk 2 months after it was handed in. So you can guess what happened to the other ones. Our union rep if you can even call him that will do nothing to help anyone, because that will mean getting of his fat arse and actually conversing with people. Who needs that before you retire soon?

Anyway yesterday someone needed to finish on time. But according to him the duty could be completed on time, the usual nonsense about traffic figures was said, whilst ignoring the mountain of packets that could shadow Everest. But this woman was adamant that she needed to finish to pick up her kids. This caused a tantrum in this assistant Dom. He threw an empty tray in her general direction, called her a fat lazy bitch and said if she would stop yakking to people she would not have this problem. Witnessing this has left me stewing with anger. Although this is hardly out of character for this person. I'm angry that my union as repeatably done nothing over the years to curb this behavior. Not a damn thing. I'm angry that any grievance form handed in may as well be toilet paper.

People that are victims of abuse are normally the last ones to do anything about it. Especially if they think they could lose their jobs over it. I'm thinking the next time he throws his toys out the pram I will just film it. Now my question is would the police actually do anything about it or would they simply say this is an internal matter?

Don't you think that the Police have enough to do, dealing with real crimes and emergencies?

Answering to the original question...No if the tray didn't hit them.
BUT..... under the SSOW and SOP's the person who deliberately threw a tray WILL be conducted through the Health and Safety at Work.

I have seen guys reprimanded for flicking elastic bands under this act / procedure.

Has anyone said anything to this idiot or our you all to sh@@ scared and for your union rep saying fu@@ all about him or her

A manager like this needs to be put in their place. If your union rep isn't doing anything about it go above him to your area rep. If he behaves like this to others in the office get together and all put in a greivance against him.

We had a Dom like this in our area, it took years of him getting away with it before his luck ran out and he was sacked.

yeah its not a police matter, but i would strongly encourage the woman to report this - at least a grievance and in fact i may go above their head and speak directly to HR.

As posties we all tend to stick together right ? If I had witnessed my manager behave in such a disgusting manor and speak to a woman like that, I would have gave him a piece of my mind ! As would other blokes in my office. Seems people are scared to challenge their manager. By the time I finnished with him, he would have crawled back into his little hole!!! Boils my piss how some get away with it. Luckily our manager is reasonable. Well I say that, he knows he’d get eaten alive by some of the gals in our place!!!

Is there a reason that the area or divisional rep isn't all over this? Is it not within the combined abilities of the entire office to oust the useless prick of a rep or at least go over their head and inform area of their distaste for getting involved on a regular basis?

If it is a case of not wanting to stick ones head above the parapet by all means pm me the names, dates, and office and I will email those that should be jumping down the throat of this ASSistant Dom

Harassment, which the incident as described would certainly be, is an offence and so you could indeed be justified in reporting it to the police. RM could deal with the matter if it is brought to their attention, or it could be taken to tribunal. It's probably best to go the latter routes but whichever course is taken, witnesses will need to be prepared to say truthfully what they saw, and possibly (though unlikely) under oath were the case to go to court (though RM would almost certainly resolve/settle well before it got to that point).

Ive heard of cases where a non victim has complained and posties have lost their jobs it is not a police matter imo.
