The great holiday rip off
Just got the holiday list in our office for next year,we are now being told that the system has changed instead of being off for a week eg 5 days we are now going to be given hours
So with the weeks I’ve booked instead of six weeks off I now get 5 weeks and 4 daysplus a couple of hours due to the long and short weeks that we have had placed upon us
Also we have been informed if your day off falls on a bank holiday you don’t get a day off back but the hours that you were scheduled to work so if you say wanted a Thursday off you couldn’t because you haven’t enough hours to do so from your bank holiday
We have had a system that nearly worked to one that is just plain penny pinching
Season of good will.....shove it Royal Mail you’re going to get none from our office

Everyone’s leave is in hours on PSP. It’s much better. If you take a Tuesday off and it’s a short day you get deducted less hours. If you need to book a few hours off to leave early or something you can also. Not sure why anybody would have a problem with it. It’s hardly fair people who always book long days off are deducted the same as people booking short days.

Well yet again it comes down to the office you work at, told there is no way we will be allowed to book individual hours, it must be a full day!picture123 wrote:Everyone’s leave is in hours on PSP. As stated above people no longer have the same amount of days off which in my book makes it a terrible system for the employee

As simple as that! Had half a day hanging around on my card for over fifteen years. Unless you’re booking a solid week off you haven’t a chance, managers round here will not entertain odd days, let alone odd hours.picture123 wrote:If you need to book a few hours off to leave early or something you can also.

i can see positives from this as it could be deemed "fair"
HOWEVER im pretty sure the managers dont count up exactly how many hours people work when theyre constantly given the short days off every week, therefore probably going over their hours every week.

But individual days are few and far between most are compensatory days for Public Holidays.picture123 wrote:Everyone’s leave is in hours on PSP. It’s much better. Annual leave should be booked firstly in weeks, compensatory days are booked in the sweep up at the end of the selection process. I doubt many people whom pick odd days pick them because it may be a longer day. Most people pick odd days for a particular purpose i.e. a family occasion.

PSP states( edited);
Annual leave (since 2014/15)
There is no material change to the amount of leave which employees are entitled to. Annual leave will continue to be allocated to employees based on the hours they work and their contractual entitlements in terms of leave. However the PSP will record and process annual leave in hours instead of days, meaning that leave entitlements will be reduced by the actual hours and minutes taken – not days as is current practice. This means that leave can now be taken in hours if a full day is not required.

YOU CANNOT HAVE IT IN HOURS.
PSP records them as boys but it makes no difference to you.
A days holiday is still a days holiday. The amount of hours you’re scheduled to work that day does not matter.
You have a holiday entitlement and that’s that.

Yeah of course you don’t book individual hours but the total days you have add up to a set number of hours not day, as every day has different hours. The hours system makes much more sense.A2B wrote:Well yet again it comes down to the office you work at, told there is no way we will be allowed to book individual hours, it must be a full day!picture123 wrote:Everyone’s leave is in hours on PSP. We have 2 weeks where we work 4 days and 2 weeks were we work 5 days so thenhour system here makes alotnof sense. But it should do for everyone as not all days equal the same hours.

As per usual lots of different opinions and experiences to something which should be the same in every RM office, this company is a shambles and we let them get away with it

Writing in capital letters does not alter the fact of the official position stated in the final paragraph;Creditshampoo wrote:YOU CANNOT HAVE IT IN HOURS.
