How many neighbours do you knock?

Hey.

Had a terrible day with packets and parcels today. Did not even have enough room for one of my bag drop in h.c.t.

Anyway, I am attempting at least one neighbour per parcel, but including waiting at both doors and writing dockets and walking between doors, this is near enough 5 minutes per docket! I'm cutting off all the time now, but the pda actual protects me and Beavis and butthead in the office are fuming but can't do shite.

Why doesn't everyone do this?

My wrist is sore from writing out so many P739s

We constantly hear talk about productivity.

Yet, my job at the moment seems to consist of attempting to deliver signed for parcels to people's homes when they are at work.

Rico, roll out some of those inflight options... DPD allow customers to sign for items remotely (thus assuming responsibility), which can then be left in a designated safe place.

I never go to neighbours houses as I'm always 30-60 minutes over everyday . Take 2 loops off my duty and I'll go to neighbours houses

No time built into duty for deliver to neighbour.

I have zero complaints and nothing ever goes missing.

Yep. Not built in the duty time. Ive been on my duty a while and do knock if im near enough certain the neighbour will be in, otherwise a docket it is. Plenty still just leave out of sight im sure, but is it worth it?

I covered a P&L duty with a bloke who wanted me to sign stuff for his usual partner's customer's and leave it on their doorstep!!

Then I suggested we stop for a break - he got even more annoyed when I sat in the van for 20 minutes eating my lunch.

None, where is the time built into your duty to knock neighbours. With all the scanning and oversize pkts increasing, if you start on your time and take your breaks I would imagine most walks would be impossible to achieve. If only everyone would do the jobs correct just to show that this job can not be done in your hours.

I do knock. This time of year is a little different but what I've found generally on my walk is there are regular 'internet people', and regular neighbours of the internet people who are home around at the time I am. Pretty quickly you find you only have to knock on one door and they open straight away because they recognise your knock or voice. Either way you're writing a 739.

If I can physically reach out and knock neighbour's door from where I'm standing, I'll do it. Even then only if I know them. If there is a drive to walk down, another drive to walk up to try neighbour and then walk back to leave left with neighbour card....then nah

Unless DOM does his passionate "treat their parcels like your own Xmas presents and try neighbour's" again this year.

In which case I'll be bringing back even more mail

Although, I do get joewyan's point. We all have that interweb happy shopper who's never in, but their order isn't quite an overweight and just tucks in your pouch...

And they're not in and they live right at the beginning of your loop and you've got that packet digging in your back for the next half hour.

It is hard to have sympathy for those people...

A few, I know who’s in and who’s happy to take stuff. Even better I know who’s doors are open so don’t even need to knock.
Go on another around like I did last week and it’s a nightmare. Writing 739s our in the rain sucks

If you can, on a Saturday or when you can catch them, talk to them. They probably hate having to go pick it up. Ask them which neighbours usually in and can take it or if they have a safe shed or somewhere.

Don't know if that would be a little risky, if you can gain access to deliver it behind an unlocked door then someone else can gain access to steal it
