Lost Annual Leave?

Is it possible to lose Annual Leave entitlement if you have been on long term sick for a few months?

It would appear that I have lost a few days due to being off for nearly four months.

I wasn't aware that this was the case and that you had to be in full attendance to earn your Annual Leave entitlement.

Can anyone help or confirm this?

No, it's not possible. Sickness absence should have no effect on your holiday entitlement.

Absolute bollocks.
I anything it sort of works the other way round.
If, for example, you've been off for 4 months and in that time you were due to have a week AL. That week of AL should be credited back to you to take at another time because you haven't been able to take it.

Quite right. This happened to me a few months ago and when I returned to work, I simply booked my week of annual leave again for a few months later.

You cannot lose leave because you have been sick , you should get back any leave you couldn't have while you were sick.

Sick leave and holiday
Statutory holiday entitlement is built up (accrued) while an employee is off work sick (no matter how long they’re off).

Any statutory holiday entitlement that is not used because of illness can be carried over into the next leave year. If an employee is ill just before or during their holiday, they can take it as sick leave instead.

An employee can ask to take their paid holiday for the time they’re off work sick. They might do this if they do not qualify for sick pay, for example. Any rules relating to sick leave will still apply.

Employers cannot force employees to take annual leave when they’re eligible for sick leave.

So I had two weeks Annual Leave booked for the Christmas period and it looks like a couple of days had been taken off of my calendar.

My manager when questioned, suggested that I had lost some of my balance due to being off for nearly 4 months.

So my question is, do we 'earn' our annual leave days through attendance on a monthly basis?

it is quite possible that there is an error on the calendar. I have noticed this before with Bank Holidays displacing the 'HOs'.

Your annual leave entitlement is governed by law and has nothing whatsoever to do with " earning your annual leave days through attendance.
Your manager must have read this from the paper content within a Christmas Cracker along with the other jokes.
Tell your manager to buy a more expensive Christmas Cracker box selection this Christmas that the inserts of the crackers are Employment Law regulations.

How did you manage that? I thought taking annual leave during the peak period was not allowed.
