Getting duplicate keys for van share ?

Should/could the office provide a 2nd set of keys for a van share round ? Would help with 1st person getting back to van getting a new bag and setting off on foot also in the rain would provide 1st person back with a place to avoid rain. Do people have this on your van shares ?

My former office no. Although one guy I worked with asked me to leave the van keys behind the petrol filler flap so he could split his loop. Looked at me most agahst when I said no and it remained a no even to his comment well other people I’ve worked with do that to help me.

Offices I worked cover sent both out with van keys for the reasons you suggest.

My current office has 2 keys for all vans, very helpful for all van shares.

In my office, when you go to collect the specials, you get two PDA's and two sets of van keys at the same time, always. You also get box keys for any collections you do.

There is hell on if there isn't two sets of keys, for example, if the floater forgets to hand his set back in.

Yes, all RM vehicles have 3 sets of keys. We used to pick them up from the PHG in the keys and tabs office. But that's when we were emptying the boxes about five times a day, a lot on docket. Some of the drivers left the light boxes until the last clearance about 5:45pm but I cleared every box on time as I did my job with pride but also you never knew who could be parked up watching you. Anyway we only emptied about 12 boxes each. Lol, even the firms 318s had about five or six pick up which we were getting 4hrs 18 mins every day docket, time and a half for. Ah, the good times had to end.

Navalron is right there should be 3 sets of keys , shared vans have 1 each plus a spare.

Someone managed to loose one of the two keys for a paired loop van in our office and we were told we would just have to manage with one key as it will not be replaced due to it costing around £ 70 to get a replacement and have the chip inside programmed.

We also have another dog of a van that needs 3 keys to use it, Key 1 does the ignition and remote front door locking , key 2 for the manual side door lock and key 3 for the manual back door lock

Yes I agree with navalron there should be 2 plus a spare just in case, unfortunately that doesn't happen as when a key gets lost no one's interested/can't be arsed when it comes to getting it sorted.

All ours have 2. They've even upgraded the Corsa ones that won't start the van to ones that will.

It's not meant to work like that. One person is the driver.

Really? How so? Genuinely interested.

I know when I did my changeover he said whomever signs the van out is responsible for everything afterwards.

But, if I finish a loop first I just hop in the van and just knock some overweights out.

That's okay, isn't it?

Technically, if we have 1 driver and 1 passenger, if the passenger gets back to the van first and either sits in the front seat or fumbles about in the back to get their next bag etc, are they not in charge of that vehicle at that point?

Hmm, interesting. I see your point, but in reality I don't think it'd go down too well if I finished my loop before my partner and just sat in the van waiting for them to come back.

Is this a definite official thing then, that only the driver can drive the van?
