In an effort to combat bullying and harassment, direct acknowledgment to all employees via written correspondence that:

1. Employees may finish on their time; and
2. Here is a copy of the overrunning procedure.

Sounds obvious to everyone on here but the masses including new starters need to hear this.

Bypasses the bonus-focused filter that is middle management.

Agreed!

For a start:

- The stormproof coats needs bigger pockets for the PDA and P379's to fit in. Also, the coats need to be longer as they currently don't cover the top of my PDA when it is in its holster. Therefore the top of the PDA gets wet and stops working. Would be alright if I could then instead put my PDA into the pockets....but as mentioned they are too small.

- Shoes that actually provide support, flexibility and cushioning for your feet. I like my Adidas trainers.

- Perhaps a sort of tool belt for PDA, pens and P379 card. Optional of course.

- Change our grey shorts to navy blue. I'm not a fan of the 1950's schoolboy look.

- Men should have a shirt similar to the women's new sholo (in regards to the breathable mesh fabric). I'm really happy with my sholo.

Good point. But I think that is also the duty of the union rep.

Another suggestion:

Scrap the WPC idea. Instead pay the person training the newbie (this isn't usually the WPC)...I myself was not trained by any of the WPCs. This will have to be decided with the designated postie before the newbie starts. Managers would be required to completed paperwork on who the designated temp coach is and a supplement payment issued for that week of training.

Also PHG should be expected to assist in helping the new starters by answering queries.

Royal Mail could produce a leaflet detailing the in and outs of the job. There could be sections on D2Ds, frame prep, redirections, vehicle checks and safety, use of equipment, emergency situations.

Also managers should hand out a sheet with details such as office phone numbers and their work mobile numbers.

No, people want a letter sent by RM themselves, directly, so there can be no question as to the employer’s position on this.

Quoting the CWU to lower management usually immediately introduces an adversarial tone to the situation - and this is where most claims of bullying and harassment start.

Excellent idea and I think the CWU should give its members a card with the basic elements of the over-running procedure on it. We could then show managers this card and see about automatically getting some work taken off. There could also be a Union helpline number on the card should staff encounter any difficulties with managers.

Secondly, we should also do away with management bonuses as that is another thing which leads to bullying and stress. For example, I know someone who rang in sick was constantly harassed by managers who kept ringing up asking about their "wellbeing" and even turned up at their door!! What other employer other than Royal Mail does that?? And all managers really want is not staff's "wellbeing" but for them to be back to work so that they can get their bonus for fewer staff going on sick.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Get every round tested again, how it should be done safely securely and by the book, checks, meal breaks, proper delivery procedures in every single way that’s written down in stone on how it should be done, then see where we are,not by some computer mouse clicking, but a human, shadowing you from start to finish and see all the hoops you jump through to do it within your allocated hours of work,

Completely agree but I don't believe the Doms even have it in them to show dignity or respect. It would be an alien concept to many of them.
