Now that we're all finishing much later and with Xmas pressure soon is RM going to supply us posties with torches ?

There have always been RM torches available - the collection drivers use them.

And what is the ratio of collection drivers to postmen and women I wonder

Maybe that has a bearing as to whether Royal Mail will supply torches to posties who request them during these dark winter months

im sure the full release h&s guys will be on the case and look after us all as it must be a h&s issue working in the dark , anyway I cant SEE your problem just eat more carrots and you will be fine ,

Back when we had first & second delivery RM gave us torches as well as cycle light front and back with batteries. We are generally told to return to the DO once it gets dark so you shouldn't need torches now.

We had a H&S rep but the DOM didnt give him any time to do the job and took no notice of his recomendations so he gave it up. Haven't had one for 4 years

Have a nose around the office. We've still got loads of various lights that used to used on the bikes knocking about. TBH if you're that bothered you'd probably be better off getting one of those cheap head torches they sell in the Petrol Stations. You have my sympathy if you're still delivering in the dark. I realise some of us start a lot later now but if it's just the ammount of mail you've got.... Use the Over Running Procedure .... and finish at the time you want.

If you want a bit of overtime just tell the DOM you'd be happy to go over by an hour.... IF HE PAYS YOU........ but you'll still be finishinf at X time.

I refuse to work past my time because of the dark nights. Torch or not, its not safe walking round the council estates I have to do and its even worse at night.
