New frames

Hi guys, any of you heard of these new frames. Both walks on 1 frame. Meant to be coming in our office in January so wanted a heads up. Doesn’t sound great but wanted your input. Cheers.

I suspect to facilitate 'double preps' where one person is doing the majority of the work at the frame while the other person is on the IPS or portering or whatever (prepping another doubled walk, for instance).

It's fairly sensible so long as the fittings are big enough to allow two people to work alongside each other after the IPS finishes. It also has the merit of people on double preps not having to change fittings.

Not everything RM implements is entirely silly. However I suspect they will use this as a way to increase the number of double slots, reducing the space the two walks occupy and that is bloody stupid. Single slots avoid a host of problems.

It's news to me. Sounds like here-say ! ! ! Last I heard was the frames were coming out ... as all mail, including door to doors, will be arriving at Delivery Offices pre sequenced and bundeled ?

How else will we arrive at a full-time 35 hour week ???

The frame is 50% bigger and all double slots.

Our office has 2 areas. Our original office got sold and we merged with another office. Rumours are that a 3rd delivery office is coming in.

The idea to do away with frames has, as I understand it, been abandoned because the trials showed that processing couldn't deliver enough sequenced mail to delivery in good time.

We almost certainly won't arrive at the 35 hour week except by accepting that our breaks will be unpaid ('industry standard' so the regulator would love it). We're on 38 now, scrapping paid breaks (probably as part of some sort of wage rise-negotiation) would get us to 35 with RM essentially losing nothing. So in effect we'll work the same hours and get paid the same money but our actual paid hours will drop. That'd be my prediction anyway.

My current frame has virtually no single slots at all, for some reason. I have nearly 800 delivery points and only 5 wings on my frame. There are plenty of deliveries in my unit with 200 less delivery points that have 6 wings and therefore plenty of single slots.

Or you prep and tie down one walk then turn the street names over to reveal the second walk?

weve had these in our gaff for a few months.....its just 2 walks joined together in a sort of semi circle shape...
they did it to save floor space and to be fair in the summer it worked....now were falling over parcels

supposed to only be 1 person at the fitting h/s reasons but both can tie up together......gets a bit clunky when your both tieing up.

no real diff than separate frames though for me

Physically impossible, many D2Ds are too flimsey to run through a sorting machine and no RM machine can sort flats and letters together. tbqf it's not worth sorting flats on a machine, we just need to look at what else MCs that have FSMs are whacking through to try and justify having them. More mech mail is going to manual on wave 2 where the mail comes in a lot later so missing the sequencing.
