MRM.COM : All new vehicles will be fitted with the Trimble telemetry kits as standard

We’re rolling out 6,000 extra telemetry kits to vehicles across the country as we continue to invest in improving safety and fuel efficiency.
The small boxes are installed on dashboards and provide real-time feedback to drivers by showing warning lights and making beeping sounds if they accelerate too quickly, brake too hard, turn too sharply or drive too close behind another vehicle.
13,000 telemetry kits were installed into delivery vehicles in 2015-16, but we have recently received approval to retrofit an additional 6,000 – and from now on, all new vehicles purchased will come fitted with the system, known as Trimble, as standard.
Rollout of the new kits started this month and will continue until November.
Wallington delivery office has achieved a dramatic improvement in its safety record since Trimble was installed in two vans, with compliance almost doubling from 44% to 86% year-on-year.
‘It’s brilliant,’ said postwoman Juanita Gadsby. ‘If someone stops suddenly in front of you and you have to brake, you know the data will show you weren’t speeding. It gives me more confidence in my driving.'
Delivery line manager Mark Bird, added: ‘It gives a great insight of how people in the unit are driving and areas to improve. We just want everyone to come back safely.’

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Is it for fuel costs or insurance? The dim doesn't tell you what time an incident happened or where . If you put your foot down to avoid an accident he will have you

We’ve had them for a while but half of them are no longer stuck to the windscreen and just roll around on the dashboard. A few of them no longer work at all. Manager doesn’t care as it makes his figures look good.

We've had them fitted for years. NO ONE has EVER been spoken to about their driving. One of our Posties asked to see his Trimble Data. He was obviously very impressed as he spent the rest of the day telling everyone he was the best driver in the DO..... we were thinking of having a whip round to buy him a medal. If you've not had one before, and they fit one to your van, just ignore the beeping and drive to the road conditions. They seem to bear very little relevance to real time driving.

You might receive a counselling for leaving the engine running while stationary on the older vehicles, linos don't like that appearing on their screens.

I wondered what that beeping noise was! I was told my an old timer every time it beeps the manager gets a notification about your driving. Not sure if he's just pulling my leg, I don't care, seems to beep at me when it feels like it.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Since when did linos or doms become driving experts. According to lino mark, he will check his drivers are driving correctly. They should just TRY and do their normal job first without trying to become all things to all men. I'm not saying Trimble is a good or bad thing but it seems that your not trusted to put a letter through the door or deliver parcels or indeed do ANYTHING without some screw trying to f..k you over and take you down the conduct route, especially if your fulltime with quite a bit of service. W.....S.

I believe the Beeping is the indication that you've done something "Wrong". Like accelerating too fast or cornering too fast...... then a little Amber Light comes on!HTPostman wrote:I wondered what that beeping noise was! I know that Royal Mail Managers are Trained Doctors! How else are they able to tell when you'll be fit to return to work.Navalron wrote:Since when did linos or doms become driving experts. I like to set myself a little challenge with this.
How many minutes after leaving the office can I get my 'trimble' light to red
For the record my best result so far is 3mins 48seconds

Come Christmas and its freezing out, do they really expect people to sit in a cold van with no heating on for their break? Our office is selective about what/who they pull for Trimble. We've a few posties who drive like they're late for Church and have never been questioned, yet others have been pulled over problematic roundabouts/junctions etc. All our new vans are petrol, and they are incredibly bad on fuel compared to the diesels they replaced.redneck wrote:You might receive a counselling for leaving the engine running while stationary on the older vehicles, linos don't like that appearing on their screens.
