Dear All,
I'm hoping you're all finally enjoying your Fridays/weekends and someone can please help with this one.
I've have been on long term sick now for a couple of months now with severe Diabetes.
At the beginning of my absence, my manager suggested a 'contact plan' of me ringing him every Monday and Friday at 6pm.
At first this seemed fine and acceptable but it has now become in my opinion, excessive.
He asks the same repetitive questions, challenges my illness and queries my answers.
It is becoming very mentally tiring and frustrating.
Please advise as I am beginning to reach the end of my tether!
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for your response.
You would think once a week would be thorough enough.
I hand in a Doctors note every two weeks to cover my absence as well.
I almost feel like I'm being unfairly questioned and almost made to feel like I'm lying.

Hi mate. Diabetes could be considered under the equality act, not 10% on that.
What you need is a paper trail.
Email your manager and explain the reasons you’re off sick and that you ask to be referred to OHS as you need to snort this and let’s face it management won’t. Get be email from the union rep and also get them on the case as I believe twice a week is too much to contact. You only need to agree a contact method....it’s a two way thing

Your Dom should have referred you to oh assist by now (2 months) , anyone who's been sick for any length of time will no what your going through , it's a form of harassment and bullying. Different offices seem to have mixed ways of keeping in touch , twice a week is a bit excessive. Give your union rep a call . Don't let him pressurise you into going back until your fully better. Stay strong. Good luck.

Snort!
Thanks for all the replies, I found most of them useful in some form or the other.
I like the idea of emailing my manager and requesting an OH Assist referral best.
I think by doing this it creates a paper trail as suggested and leaves a solid trace of proof and conversation.
A phone call chat is very hard to prove and pretty pointless in my opinion.
Any other ideas or suggestions, just shoot.
Thanks again,
Jim

Just to add.....
What is the correct name of the medical/health company that deals with the consultations? Is it 'OH Assist'?
Also, on my email to my line manager, is it advisable to copy in any other managers or departments?
Just in case he actively trys to ignore it.
Thanks,
Jim.
