The following increase has been agreed for all CWU represented grades:-
• With effect from the 2nd October 2017 for weekly paid employees (1 October 2017 for monthly paid) an
increase of 5% on basic pay rates or salary, basic pay supplements, skills and unsocial hours allowances,
London weighting and Scottish Distant Islands allowance, overtime and scheduled attendance rates.
• A reduction in the working week of one hour from October 2018, subject to:-
A) Delivery of trials and an implementation plan informed by the outcomes of those trials for both
Delivery methods and Resource scheduler (including hours capture) without pre-conceived
outcomes.
B) Deployment of the last letter time of 15:30 (16:30 rural), as part of the implementation of a solution
for the LAT products as detailed in section 15.
• In order to deliver an hour reduction for all grades in 2018, the functional leads from both Royal Mail and
CWU will meet and plan for implementation from October 2018.
• With effect from the 1st April 2019 for weekly paid employees (1 April 2019 for monthly paid) an increase
of 2% on basic pay rates or salary, basic pay supplements, skills and unsocial hours allowances, London
weighting and Scottish Distant Islands allowance, overtime and scheduled attendance rates.
• A further reduction of 1 hour in the working week to be introduced from the 1st October 2019, the funding
formula for the hour will include a joint evaluation of inflation as of the 1st April 2019, any implementation of
changes from the trials, in sections 14 and 15 of this agreement, on-going efficiency, and other operational
and technological changes). The shorter working week forum will review progress for plans to achieve the
above objectives, ensuring they are on track and put corrective actions in place where not.
• The next pay review date will be 1st April 2020.

Regarding the 1 hour reduction next year,Is it dependant on trials or is it guaranteed?

Perhaps if you work a second job or have your own business; Otherwise it’s good to have longer days imo if it means more rest days. We have longer days with 1545 finish. every 4 weeeks get Friday Saturday off and the Monday Tuesday off. Those weeks we work under our contracted hours but then when we ha e Wednesday or Thursday off we do over. Most are happy with it.leolion855 wrote:finishing at half 3? thats a bit rubbish.

The Union have initially said that they would prefer to take the time off the start of the duty rather than add it on at the end. Imagine a scenario whereby all live mail comes in fully sequenced in perhaps 3 or 4 full trays (maybe more!) and all you had to do was tie it up and bag it after redirections and marking down the small packets for the relevant bags/loops. This is how I expect Royal Mail want to work but they just need to sort out the problems of mail that still doesn't get processed by machines (those buddy trays and stuff that still needs to be walk-sorted manually) and too many mis-sorts appearing in trays. For this to happen we would be starting later as the mech will arrive later and Royal Mail would also need to invest in a lot more CSS machines and indoor staff to process this mail under the timescales. Whether we would still get out on time on our deliveries or later remains to be seen but if Royal Mail do want a flight path of 9 till 5pm i.e. extend our delivery span then I really think that the CWU should push for a 4 day week. This would then tally with their aims of a 35 hour working week, and at least we would all get an extra day off.
Thats my theory, but in practice, we haven't even got past 1st base yet. For a start there has been a hour off the working week and nothing to show for it other than paying part-timers additional overtime to come in and help prep in order to get the deliveries out of the door.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
