other part time getting full time ... less seniority

i thought full time contracts were always based on seniority
for people to be made up but other with less seniority have been (union agreed to this apparently)

Yes if they have worked the hours and u havent the agreement is now based on this. See the new agreement hours to be worked to be reviewed.... And increased.. Not ill sit on my arse dont do the hours then expect them if they come along

It was such a poorly worded agreement it is no wonder there is confusion.
We had a Divisional rep on here assure us that seniority would still hold the field.
It doesn't say in the new agreement - be a gaffer's favourite and get a contract you are not entitled to either.

Not saying I agree with the scrapping of seniority in this instance, but surely this would be the beginning of the end of seniority meaning anything at all when it comes to choosing duties etc.

I could be wrong but I believe the way it's worded can be confused. You're reading it as an individuals hours. Its office based not personal hours worked.

For example if person A doesn't work overtime or days off etc... but has a higher seniority than person B who is always asked to come in early, work late and works day off etc... when a full time post comes available then if person A wants it, they get it.

In our office when posties have started on part time hours and got made up to full time it has always been based on that posties job. It is nothing to do with seniority as far as I know.

How is it confusing, Bob who has been here for a month ( 20 hr contract) is not automatically going to get a 35hr contract just because it's been agreed that the walk he's on needs it's hrs upped.

You could be mis informed as if that happens in 'any' office I would expect trouble there.

Senority will be scrapped and these 20 30 year men are the ones with there arses twitching at the end of the day were all paid to donthe same job if someone whis worked the hours for 2 yesrs or 44 weeks under the agreement does thst znd another person eho cant be arsed doesnt it goes to the guy whos worked the hours its that simple

It might not be a question of "can't be arsed".
For some people it might be a question of childcare issues.
For others it might be an elderly relative.
For others tax credits and benefits.

Your interpretation is one interpretation of the agreement.
What backs it up?
