DUSTBOWL BLUES
The problem of this place being a construction site is
never-ending. Day after day there are new problems
and new basement areas closed off. It really isn't fit for
us to work in, as we've said many times before! And
compensation won't cure our cement-dust-lungs! The
only answer is to move us and the work to a clean
environment. Surely.

PETTY TIME POLICE
Oh yes, we expected this one: the SWW has barely
started and managers are already telling us they won’t
be “lenient” when it comes to our starting times. As if
HMP warders had ever been lenient! But if they mean
that mates who're even 1 minute late have to fill in the
late-book, then we’ll be happy to justify every single
half-second… Yes, we’ll give them paperwork!
Mountains of it!

RECIPE FOR MAYHEM
This is ridiculous… Up until the resign is implemented,
mates on nights who work on the CSS machines are
supposed to start 12mins later, while TOPS, ILSM and
Parcels are asked to start 30mins later, but only 2 days
a week! We know managers "struggle" but how could
anyone come up with such a bird-brained scheme?

RM IS CHEATING US
No, we're fed up with this nonsense. We all want to
start at the same time and finish at the same time! So
come on: let us make ourselves heard for cutting 60
minutes off the working day at the end of our working
week! So we can at least feel some benefit!

NOWHERE FOR THEM TO WORK
Even though inductions have been happening at
Phoenix centre there are still no Xmas casuals here yet.
Of course, they can't work in the basement... But there
are so many gaps on the floor, at least some could be
slotted in, in the meantime - and what's more, offered a
proper job??

ALREADY HEADLESS CHICKENS
Yes, we need urgent help!! Tracked mail has been
overflowing for weeks now, to the point where
managers are diverting it to be sorted on normal
parcels – and even then, it doesn't clear! Xmas is really
going to be fun this year!

THEY THINK WE'RE SPONGES
As for EC deliveries, the drivers' shortage (altho' the
DUMs deliberately cut us down to this number!) means
we're having to absorb routes the whole time and leave
work later and later. Should we just finish on time?

BRING BACK THE SECOND DRIVER!
Yes, and with all the roadworks and parking restrictions
each delivery takes longer too. A solution would be to
have second drivers in each van. In fact this is
becoming more and more indispensable!!

NOT OUR CHINA
Oh dear! We hear rumours that the decrease in HWDC
is indeed due to managers cooking the books… They
seemed to have seen more Chinese parcels than there
really were. Trouble with their eyesight? Or just trouble
with bonus-greed? Anyway, foreign mail is still arriving
here at MP...

A SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR ABUSE
If anything, this incident at HWDC shows how stupid
RM’s perk of clearance bonuses for managers is! And
of course we do the work for them! What if, instead, we
just went and put our feet up and watched TV in the
mess room? The bonuses would de facto be scrapped!

GOOD TIMING FOR SHARE BUYERS?
We’ve been waiting 5 years to get rid of these RM
shares and now they’ve gone down by 30% just before
we could! You'd think that the market somehow knew
that a chunk of shares would soon be up for sale! But
it's probably just the City's absurd profit warning – i.e.,
that profits are high (£550m) but not as high as last
year (£694m)!...

THE STICKY SHARES CON
Even if we didn't care about the money that's
evaporated into thin air, we still can’t get rid of these
damned shares! They expect you to jump through
hoops, phone, get sale references, and then when you
think you're finally selling, they cancel the sale! Yet
City speculators buy and sell in a split second!

COOKING US UP?
By the way, the new “self-use” canteen in the basement
feels (and smells) like a giant microwave… There's no
ventilation (and none in the toilets or new mess rooms
either). Are managers worried we'd get too
comfortable during our breaks? While we're waiting for
the air con we'll just have to take longer breaks and go
outside.

The time needed to sequence a given batch of say 20 boxes can't be reduced. Do MP do any sequencing on their iLSMs?

Tracked is supposed to be sterile (kept separate) from other mail until it reaches the delivery prep frames at the DOs. MP could well have lots of Tracked missing out on scans
