Left a 739 card, however can’t find parcel in office

Yesterday I left a 739 card for a tracked item that I couldn’t deliver, however when the customer went to go collect their parcel from the office they were told it wasn’t there. My manager rang me to ask where it was, but if I’m being honest I don’t know!? I remember filling out the card, I presume its accidently been left in one of the bags taken back to the office with the other 739 items... but I’m not certain. What happens if it doesn’t turn up, is this a sackable offence?

How do they know you lost it? What about those in the office? Could have given it someone else You gave it in job done.

it happens quite often, in ours they usually turn up. they've either been left in one of the bags or the callers office staff have mislaid it, etc. no, its not a sackable offence.

Don't worry about it things go missing all the time , usually turns up within a few days.

Yep, happens at our office too, all the time. No need to worry. Like others say, it will turn up. Sometimes computer can’t find it then later they say, “oh, it was in the office all the time but computer said it wasn’t in the system”. Yeah, thanks for telling me.

Dw about it, happened to me twice where manager has told me I need to find it only for the office staff to find it on the wrong shelf lol

On returning from delivery we fill out a pre printed sheet of paper with all the 739 items that we have taken back. It has columns for type of item (Recorded,Special,Tracked) etc, address, how many and date. All items are then handed in with sheet. If then an item cannot be found later on down the line the daily sheet is referred to using the date 739 was left. If it is listed on the sheet filled out then it narrows the search down to at least being returned to the office.

Not really, but if you have already gone over your time by 40 to 50 plus minutes its not going to make a lot of difference to let them pay you another 10 minutes for filling out a piece of paper.

Happened to me today. The person in the cage came up to me and said. so and so what's a redelivery but I can't find it do you know what it is, it's from Saturday. I told them it's a special and what it looked like so they went off. While thinking I couldn't remember handing it in so I checked my bags and it was in there oops

. Luckily the person dealing with it just took it off me and sorted it

Happened to me with a tracked. . . . turned out I'd sent it for a ride through the pipeline. all ended well.
