There isn't a specific number but rather "mass" in this instance refers to " a large number " of people. If 25 or more "walked" I think you could argue the case "that it was a mass walkout" ? ? ?

Any withdrawal of labour is a serious business ? Whether it is "on mass" or not doesn't really matter ? ? ? The message to the employer is always the same ie . . . We are seriously seriously pi***d off about something ! ! !

Unofficial strike action is a bold move to take as it could lead to instant dismissal.

Are they going to conduct a mass sacking then?

The problem is getting everyone who is hacked off to stick together. & it is a serious serious matter that needs to be addressed. I just wondered if there had to be a percentage of the DO so dismissal wasn’t a option for them.

I guess trying to arrange a mass walkout is like trying to get evidence for a B&H grievance. People will say to your face "that what's happened is bang out of order, should never happened." "I'll gladly put something down for you, we need to get rid of them!"

You submit your B&H grievance in and no person backs you up, the ones who said they would then back down and have second thoughts.

I submitted a grievance in a different job for B&H and this happened to me! As a result the grievance wasn't upheld. *insert swear word here*

But with arranging a massive walkout is like this, people will want to do it but when it comes to it they'll be like no, we don't want to! We've got mail to deliver, got to be like penguins!

But penguins follow each other but this is what you need to do to the ones not supporting you.

Edit: didn't realise picture would be too small.

There isn't a hard and fast rule on this but you should have a reasonable idea before attempting this mass walkout what the general feeling is within the office and how many will give you backing.
Don't know if you are the office union rep or the specific reasom you are taking this action but I would tread very carefully as you might find that the numbers you thought you had might dwindle when push comes to shove and you are left with a disciplinary for inciting a strike.

Probably not - but that doesn't weaken the need to warn people of the possible consequences.

It is not a case of walking out that will bring this company to it's knees but to do the job to it's specification and not cut corners and no one could be sacked for that could they, But you need to convince them of that and that it will be of benefit for all of them or the vast majority!

If all the part timers worked to their time and DIDN'T go over their hours for overtime! Then yes, there would be problems.

After all overtime is voluntary but people do it because of bills etc and goodwill.
