Abusive customers

I recently recorded a customer being threatening and abusive on my phone. I called my line manager who was ready to deliver a letter to the guy telling him he needed to now pick up his mail. This was stopped by my office manager who said the customer has to agree to it. Is this correct or is he fobbing it off. Doesn't sound right to me. I don't deliver to his house my workmate does it now but i do go into the street which is fine so far. The police spoke to the guy but no further action has been taken by royal mail. No letter or phone call about his behaviour. If i drop an elastic band in the street and someone complains I'm pulled up in 2 minutes but now customers can treat you like this and get away with it. It's a joke. Does he have to agree to call collect and should i put in a grievance about how this has been handled.

You're being fobbed off , it's not up to the customer if RM withholds their service to his house under H&S. DIM just washing his/her hands of it. You can if you feel under threat or intimidated refuse to deliver under your own initiative.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It wouldn't be public disorder I think you need a minimum of 12 people involved for that.

A common misconception. If the police reasonably believe that a breach of the peace is being committed, or is about to be committed, on private property, they may use their common law power to enter the property without a warrant in order to stop or prevent the breach.

Sometimes people have medical conditions that my lead to them acting out of character - stroke victims and certain types of dementia for example.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

They wouldn’t remove the homeowner on this occasion they would tell the postman to go away from the situation. If somebody is shouting abuse from say their own property to somebody down the street then there is no common law powers to prevent this.

Don’t speak to management
Speak to police
Then the management might get involved
