As a newsish stater and no idea what is was like before, what would this mean for RM?

Stability and a halt to lowering standards of service. An industry run for the worker as well as the customer.

Will never happen so don't worry about it. The current Labour lot will never get in as they are now, Corbyn might end up as Prime Minister but will be on a minority ticket. Spending billions re nationalising Royal Mail will be controversial; no minority Government would risk doing it.

They'd need to get the relevant Act through parliament first, and then attempt to borrow the £5 billion or so to compensate the existing shareholders. Never gonna happen all the time his...etc etc.

Don't even understand why they think work would change if it were renationalised ( which I also say will never happen) . The govt would still want to make money out of the business and at least as much as we do now. What do people think, that the govt would say, ok posties, you've been worked hard enough these last 5 yrs, we'll make your rounds smaller, give you a nice pay rise and you can all go home 2 hrs early every day coz you deserve to still be paid while you're sat at home or picking up the kids. Don't worry about where the money is coming from, this is the govt , we'll just borrow and add it to the trillions we already owe . Btw, sorry, you won't be getting any more of those nasty dividends from your shares we took off you.

I suppose people may feel the terms and conditions will be better. With a Labour government the unions have a massive amount of power; if Royal Mail was in public hands the CWU would have a huge advantage when it came to the negotiations. We might have kept the pensions for instance. That said, we're going to have to change because mail is going to continue to drop; no government can change that, neither will being owned publicly or privately.

Eventually the Tories would just privatise again when they get back into power in 5 or 10 years anyway.

Although if Royal Mail was renationalised, and Scotland became independent, what would that mean? Would there then be a Scottish Mail?

It won't happen , the courts will be clogged up by legal challenges galore, plus the country can't afford it , thanks to the profligacy of Blair and Brown. In any event , Corbyn will never be prime minister ,so I'd worry about something else.

Bloke on my walk says he has £750 worth of RM share and got a £38 dividend cheque last time.

95% of my walk is housing association and he lives in the 5%. You can join up the dots yourself.

Not really an answer but there current ways of prioritising costs over quality can’t carry on. So much mail fails and will continue to fail they need to change something.

Worse case scenario in 10-20 years amazon buys Royal Mail. They could potentially do that right?

If it happens it'll be a lot sooner than that. In twenty years Amazon will be so big that they wouldn't need RM or any part of it.
