80k a year to sit in your car

Our area manager has been sitting in his car checking what time staff are getting back off delivery. Is this really the best use of their time. Surely if they have time to do this then they haven’t got enough work that they are paid to do.

Knock on his window, after you've clocked off, and tell him "This is the time you mark down." Add @rsehole to that, if you feel like it.

They do that’s whats brought him to our office. He has been monitoring PDAs and has seen some memebers of staff are finishing early so he now sits in his car to see if those staff do any extra work or just go home

Not sure why he or she was sat in their car doing this... maybe they were as gutless as the DOM when it comes to telling people they can’t go home before their time if there’s still work to be done.

Is he still there when the ones with impossible walks get back so they can ask him why isn't my walk getting balanced out to a realistic to complete in time walk?

Managers can't get paid to do actual delivery of walks. They are paid to do their own work. If they do delivery consistently your office budget will be reduced the following year and every year after that. This puts your jobs at risk.

What happens to the runners that finish an hour or two before their shift ends, because they come in early don't take breaks ect. Heard in April if you finish an hour b4 your time you will only be paid til that time. Anyone else heard this, or only rubbish gossip

Whether we agree with it or not matters very little. He will have to justify his own budget and expenses to someone and from the other side of the argument, he has a duty to oversee managers and staff he is employed to managers. Is his method questionable, of course, it is, but I have far too many other personal, family and other concerns to worry about how a manager fills his working time, his managers are employed to do that.

I worry about things that affect me, or that are at my pay grade, they don't pay me enough to worry about others peoples work.

What surprised me was that you knew who he was , I wouldn't know my area manager if I fell over him ,which suits me just fine. Like TBT says ,worry about your own world.
