Why do the union not help their members and advise to fight their own battles, can they just not be bothered or just have no power?
Does anyone else wonder why we pay our union when everyday we come into be bullied and harassed by managers forcing us to work by our time?

Until the majority stop their subscriptions they will do nothing. I know it's a hard thing to walk but if your rep and area are doing nothing for you then you are wasting money. And all the bullying about wage rises, well plenty of other industries get rises every year without unions. That being said I'm staunchly pro union but not if their not pulling their weight.

Maybe because people are all to quick to shout “harassment, bullying” etc
It’s sometime like looking after kids, if you have an issue try and sort it out yourself BEFORE you go crying to the rep. Nothing worse than staff wanting you to hold their hand and wipe their arse. Most of the “harassment” or “bullying” I’ve had to look into is nothing more than managers actually managing staff.

Is that not what the union is for. Why pay your dues week in week out and not get the help when needed. Yes, some staff do rip the piss but a lot, especially the newer ones, need someone to help them out as managers don't tell them what the score is and try and screw them out of money due. Also some people don't like confrontation and it never will get better as long as managers bonuses rely on more and more lapsing, getting the sick back to work earlier, getting as many miles out of the vans as possible, walks getting add ons without extra time. The list goes on and on. Maybe you can, like myself, talk for yourself but a lot cannot. Anyway, unity is strength

Trouble is if too many people come out of the union, isn't there a risk of RM turning round and de-recognising the CWU?Navalron wrote:Until the majority stop their subscriptions they will do nothing. Thats the point. I don't agree with the tactic but I guess if enough people leave the CWU, then that'll scare the Union and action will be taken to address issues.SpacePhoenix wrote:Trouble is if too many people come out of the union, isn't there a risk of RM turning round and de-recognising the CWU?Navalron wrote:Until the majority stop their subscriptions they will do nothing. I would happily leave the union tomorrow if I trusted the rep not to stitch me up in some way soon after!

If you want to see what non unionised mainly unskilled work place looks like, look no further than Amazon. I’m sure Rm would be well happy for you to resign your membership.

On reflection, it would be like self-amputating 1 leg, because you didn't like the colour of your socks. Okay, you've taken control of the situation, but you've cut off a lot of support that you might need later.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Thats the point.
