DOOR 2 DOOR agreed policy anyone?

Post by Picket »

regarding door 2 doors - since i've been doing my job properly and with the reintroduction of D2Ds - i've been prepping them into my frame. this morning after 45 mins sorting i was questioned why i had prepped so little mail into my frame bar other reasons i said due to prepping my d2ds. i was told that the payments we get for d2ds are for prepping them and therefore not supposed to prep them in Royal Mail's time.

does anybody know the correct procedure for D2D prep and delivery - the one agreed between RM and the Union please?

thanks

ps. something i can print off to show my manager - if he's wrong that is :chuckle

Strange thing this, we'll always been told to prep them in our own time, deliver as part of your duty. But, if we are supposed to do 20% per day, does that mean we are giving them (RM) the time to prep them for free every day? I think not, I told my DOM if I was to prep them in my own time, then I wouldn't be doing them, as if it's my own time, I'd charge them a lot more than 1.67p per item and I can think of a thousand things I'd rather be doing with my time. It seems every office is different, surely there should have been a national policy, too late now of course.

Anyway, if they want d2d's delivered, they have to allow us the time to prep them, even an idiot can see that.

Oh dear...

Picket that isn't aimed at you.

Here's the deal,D2D's are to be prepped in your duty time and any screw that is telling you different is lying!!
You are supposed to take 20% a day, they do not have to be done in your own time END OFF!!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I have come across this kind of D2D problem also! Management seem to make up their own rules with much disregard for any previous union agreement. On one occasion I was TOLD I had to do them in my OWN time as we are paid separately for them!!! As I was fairly new to the job I did not know who to believe. Only when an experienced colleague intervened did I realize that management were trying it on. I find this despicable - to try and pull the wool over the eyes of a new employee. Anyone would think the managers are paying your wages out of their own pockets - how strange!

:lfo :cfo You do not prep D2D in your own time!!!!!!!!!! Hello, hello, If a manager opens his mouth he is lying. Prep your walk all of it and then prep your D2D. Here's my routine, IPS, Start to prep walk can't complete before mealbreak. Inform manager I need assistance and take my 40 minute break. Finish mail prep so prep 20% D2D. Bag up. Vans gone so manager has to take me out to start delivery. Oh! by the way I left a row in for someone to do on O/T YOU DON'T PREP D2D IN YOUR OWN TIME :cuppa :cuppa ------------KAWAK

After in no uncertain terms being told that d2ds should not be prepped in out own time - i contacted my local delivery area rep - he said that the way he understands it that we get paid d2d payment to both prep and deliver - and that prepping d2ds in RM's time is really only acceptable (to RM) if it doesn't impede on sorting the required level of mail for delivery.

he suggested alternative ways of delivering d2ds like using pockets or holding them unprepped at back of bundles!!!!

to be honest i prefer all your answers but if i get dragged in office again i'll have to rely on this guy to fight my side .........huh!

(i've been looking for an agreement on D2Ds on CWU website can't find anything - i'd appreciate if theres anyone who knows where i can find something agreed before i push my luck again)
