Is the manager an acting manager, if they are they might not have access to the relevant part of PSP to have a look at if there's any spaces for the days or weeks that you've put in for

They may be breaking the law.

The law is if applying for leave it should be requested at least twice the length of leave before .

If they are refusing the leave, then the refusal should be communicated at least the length of leave before.

To clarify - want a week off - by law apply 2 weeks before. They can't refuse unless they do so at least 1 week before the leave.

The government puts it much better than me. https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement- ... -time-off-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Booking time off
The general notice period for taking leave is at least twice as long as the amount of leave a worker wants to take (for example 2 days’ notice for 1 day’s leave), unless the contract says something different.

An employer can refuse a leave request but they must give as much notice as the amount of leave requested, for example 2 weeks’ notice if the leave requested was 2 weeks.
