I had a chat with a postie today just to ask if there was any problems as my mail had been very erratic this week he said most of the Lapsing was left in the frames 2 for at least 4 days with out being touched and many for a day or 2 , apparently my road was left in the frame at least 2 times including today this week with it being the last thing they deliver its touch and go if I get it or if it goes back ,
its all right though as the DOM and office manager both decided to take this week off as a holiday week so they cant be blamed

By rights the same delivery or section of delivery should not be left two days or more in a row undelivered. There may be reasons for this happening such as no posties available who know the walk I suppose. You are allowed to visit the delivery office and collect your own mail if you wish. Remember to take identification such as a photo card driving licence or passport.

Is this the standard now. Obviously it's gone to f**k. If RM can't deliver letters, FFS, then what's the point. Maybe starting to let the public know, especially the ones who live on constantly lapsed roads, would make RM up their game. They shouldn't have to up their game as it's pretty basic in what they do but as usual they make it a lot harder than it needs to be.Celgar wrote:By rights the same delivery or section of delivery should not be left two days or more in a row undelivered. The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Extraction of Personal Mail by RM Employees
Royal Mail employees working in the operational pipeline may come into contact with personal mail
addressed to themselves.
This is particularly true for our people who work in the Delivery Office that serves their home
address and that on occasion, there may be circumstances where someone may have a need to
extract their own personal mail whilst at work.
This process must be followed in order for an employee to extract items of personal mail at work
under such circumstances.
1. A request to extract personal mail item(s) must be made to a manager.
2. The manager must check that the item(s) are addressed solely to the employee and at the
employee’s home address.
3. The manager must sign and date the item(s) to show that the extraction has been
authorised
4. Only mail items addressed to the individual employee may be extracted
5. Mail cannot be extracted for spouses, children, relatives or neighbours etc (Mr Smith cannot
extract mail addressed to Mr and Mrs Smith – this mail must be delivered as addressed)
Failure to adhere to these procedures may lead to Conduct Code action being taken.
Please Note: The above does not prevent a Delivery Officer delivering to their own address
providing they reside on their delivery route and they do not divert from route sequence to make
their own mail delivery

You should never not get your mail two days in a row in good weather with good access, of course entry systems can prevent delivery. Managers should be checking that all mail is delivered every day and if not they should take steps to make sure it goes out the next day and put it it their report lol.

Years ago we had the blue book like the overtime sheets and getting kit it has become an exercise in persistence and one where those who are idle in their responsibility and neglect of duty hide behind their monitors and sup coffee all day whilst we endure because they cannot will not make dissensions that matter and stand up if they believe a job cannot be done with the resources in hand at the expense of an unearned bonus!cpsteve wrote:You should never not get your mail two days in a row in good weather with good access, of course entry systems can prevent delivery. Used to happen a lot more with businesses when we had one postie who was particularly slow.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:He may mean thisclashcityrocker wrote:Since when?Celgar wrote: You are allowed to visit the delivery office and collect your own mail if you wish.

Nothing wrong with 'properly' or slower. I strongly advocate that but no one listens. The ex-postie I speak of was a case in point though.k979aaa wrote:Slow or Diligent is that not the future now!Celgar wrote:Nope. I didn't mean that. It's happens quite a lot. You can collect your mail if you have a "Mail Collect" in place.Celgar wrote:clashcityrocker wrote:Since when?Celgar wrote: You are allowed to visit the delivery office and collect your own mail if you wish.

Otherwise you can't. You can't randomly turn up with ID and expect to be given your mail.
It doesn't work like that.
