PDA Update?

Anyone notice a PDA update arrived over the weekend?

There was a small option added so if you hit one of the buttons on the bottom of the PDA display you get the menu up and you can jump from outdoor to indoor mode "more easily"

BUT they have also added that as soon as you hit the power button (like most people do between scans/using the PDA) it automatically engages the screen lock (the swipe to unlock screen - NOT the passcode screen) which is a bit of a friggin' annoyance.

Do you think if enough of us complain they'll reverse the decision?

It is just a hindrance having to hit power button, unlock screen, scan item, delivered or obtain signature etc delivered instead of just power, scan, delivered etc.

I noticed this happening the other week, it was a pain, but the reason I found out was the PDA was not seated correctly on the charger
overnight and the battery was very low. Mid morning the PDA gave up, so I assume it may be a save power mode.

The PDA power off/on has worked as normal since then.

Maybe the update didn't reach your office yet, when you hit back to the default Android home screen the version of the RM app today I think was 2.9 but this lock screen is "security feature"

doesn't make any sense since it doesn't ask for the pin code like when you leave your PDA unattended for 20 minutes.
Occasionally in the past my PDA would do this lock screen business but a simple reboot would resolve it, but this morning on several devices I pulled the battery and tried hopelessly but no it is indeed a meant for feature

Ours have always been like this, or at least some of them, I think there must be ansetting somewhere to enable/disable it but I've never found it.

i find sometimes it goes to the swipe screen and others it doesnt, it can vary on almost a daily basis it seems

Just click on the menu button on the sat nav screen, an option to clear route is there (whever it's trying to take you?) which will shut it up.

this update has come through on my PDA also. having the continually swipe to unlock is time consuming and annoying. how can this be a security feature when no pin is required?

ive checked online to see a way round this and it appears that you need admin access to get to the lock screen time out setting, im going to ask a manager today for this access so I can turn this frustrating feature OFF.

It's an Android OS update, goes out to every PDA that's not already got it within the next month or so

Just click on the menu button on the sat nav screen, an option to clear route is there (whever it's trying to take you?) which will shut it up.

we have been trying to find that out for ages.
Satnavs a pain in the but,plus mine is set in French and cant find option to change it

It's been driving me mad since the end of last week. Press unlock button -> swipe the status bar back up -> unlock the screen - > scan parcel. All with 1 hand. Grrr

Not anymore unfortunately tried that yesterday looks like it's a built in "feature" now,
oh yeah noticed they've also done something useful for a change and increased the text size, about time I could hardly read it now I'm getting on a bit !

That feature is probably a part of the Android OS and not the RM software
