management figures.

there's been a recent influx of new managers starting in the business from outside of Royal Mail lately. they are completely new and have little or no experience of how the job is run, and are there to cover rest day relief or annual leave for DOMs and linos. anyhow, we've had one in our office for a few months now, covering for the DOM. He's just handed in his resignation after his very short employment. Why?...well, he was talking to me and a few of the lads, and he says he's had enough of senior managements lies. he says the sector manager was telling him to give lower figures for the actual workloads that was in.!! he says at times, he did do it. i.e when there wasn't much difference between the actual workload and the figure he was told to put out. for instance..45000 items of mail, they might comfortably get away with saying there was only 41000. (just below the model week) in order to be able to put lapsing on. but many other times he says was under protest. some days when they had much higher than model week but wanted lapsing on he was told to say a much lower figure. for instance 50000 items but told to say 41500. he says when he objected by saying those figures could not be justified against the days workload, he was told to ''put them in anyway''. He's walked away from the job after only 4 months. it makes you wonder, is this sort of thing going on nationally? and if so, how much are they undercounting by on a countrywide basis?.. we all said we knew they had to be lying about their figures but ffs. surely this will all come out in the wash.

it must go on in every delivery office!!! these AREA DELIVERY MANAGERS are a bad lot and generally are hard barstads, I never did meet a decent one!!!

Exactly. We think the linos bully posties ( which undoubtedly they sometimes do) , the real bullies are the area managers, they bully the Dom, who bullies the linos etc...... good on him for not having it and leaving, but would have been better to have the balls to stay and say no. Easy said than done though.

There was a new manager in our office about 2 months ago, university graduate by my guess. Lasted less than 3 weeks they witnessed the DOM's "man management skills" in action when a colleague tried to hand back lapsing, never saw them again left RM all together.

he wouldn't have known what I wanted to hear. he just came over after he heard us talking about a long term gaffer going back to being a postie, and then he just came out with it. I am like a lot on here, very cynical of management. but why would he come out with a statement like that.? makes you think.

This has been going on for ages.They are just a load of Scumbag spivs that need to be got rid of as soon a possible.

Maybe he should have said to them dishonesty is a disciplinary offence under RMs conduct code.Good on him though for standing his ground.

It seems as though dishonesty is not an offence amongst the management and those above in RM.What an utter disgrace.
