Booking holiday

Anyone else struggle to book holiday?
The people in the book room are rude as hell and useless every time I go.
Applied for a week off (declined)
Asked the guy if he can just tell me when I can book holiday as it seems pointless continuously applying and waiting “nope just keep applying”
Apply..... 4 days..... no response
Apply different dates ...... 1 week no response
Apple AGAIN different dates..... 5 days no response
Seriously never worked somewhere that makes it this hard to get a week off. Anyone else deal with this crap?

We have been told there is no more room to book any I still have 6 days left was told by dom it's not his problem!!

I was told September is a no go so tried November and no response to any application.

Possible it's gonna get even more tricky now that holidays are worked out in hrs and minutes, and not just a straight 6 weeks off, or whatever. If your daily hrs vary which in most offices do, from Tuesdays which can be 1.5 hrs shorter than Wednesday and Thursday, to Monday Friday and Saturday which are usually about the same. So if you happen to want (or get given, all 6 weeks on your scheduled Tuesday off, then you will not have enough entitlement to do it as you need more hrs to cover those weeks. Visa vesa, if you had all your weeks on a Wednesday and Thursday scheduled day off week , royal mail would owe you hrs, how that's gonna work I don't know. Extreme case of penny pinching and trying to confuse mr and Mrs postie.

Exactly same in our office , as ive said in other posts we get our 4/5/6 weeks off but those extra days left over for single days are never given. they roll over year after year with some guys having 8-10 weeks gathered up. Union seems uninterested and the excuse is always sickness prevents single days from being authorised. Unbelievable how they get away with it.

In 4 1/2 years at my current office i have applied for 11 seperate days off (once with 1 years notice)and have been refused each time. Ive been to citizens advice, union reps etc but no use. Is this same in all offices ?

Thanks for the response. Jeeze didn’t know it was so hard to book holiday here. Not happy with how the company is run so far tbh suppose I’ll get a week off when my legs stop working lol

In my office we have to select are weeks off a year in advance! must take two weeks together then two sets of one weeks.

The person who has been there first, gets first choice and so on, we must choose in week blocks at a time, no single days..

Never worked where this happens!
