Used to leave the untracked 2 d scans in a safeplace ,but they got a line through the safeplace on the scanner i though tit only applied to tracked? i have been safeplacing them. Now we got to take photos i will be bringing them back. Do we need to form our own judgement on these untracked ones or because of the photo now would i be cutting my own throat over riding the no safe place ?

There's only 2 safeplaces:

1) In the recipients hands
2) Wherever in the DO the docket left items are stored (the locker for SD (Tracked as well) items)

If you can gain access to a "safe place" to deliver it there then someone else can gain access to the "safe place" to steal it

You only take photos of the official safe place tracked items and nothing else. They have a shared/black rectangle on the address label with 'safeplace' written in white writing in the black rectangle. Below this there will be an instruction as to where the safe place is. If you consider it to be safe then go through the process on the PDA and leave it there. If you think the safe place is not safe do the other process on the PDA and P739 it. If the customer is in you can just hand it to them and don't have to do the photo stuff then.

It's ridiculous to be honest, if you have two items one tracked with 'safeplace' and another untracked you can leave one and not the other; officially!

I had a tracked parcel, customer wasn’t in, it said leave behind wheelie bin so that what I did & typed in pda this & took picture,

And if it goes missing you will be in the S**t as the place you left it wasnt "safe"

That were the customer wanted the parcel! So if it went missing it’s the customer fault!

doubtful, they may query what you did with the package and you can tell them you followed procedure and left it in customers designated safeplace, end of discussion.

Not really.
Your first duty is the security of the mail. If you knowingly leave the package in an unsecured location then you have breached the integrity of the mail, no matter what the customer wants.
The message on the packet is generic. It applies to any courier the company may choose to use. So while it may be acceptable for a courier to leave it behind the wheelie bin, it doesn't follow that it is acceptable for us to do it.
What the customer says doesn't absolve you of all responsibility to do your job properly.

So the offices will now be flooded with items, what if i got a village stores that usually takes a few parcels in for the locals ?

No such thing as a safe place, 739 if not in.
If it takes more time so be it. dont do the lapsing

Wonder if more parcels are now being brought back? I have a customer that lives in a 1st floor flat up their own flight of stairs we have aways left any parcels on her step with no problems, yesterday & today we brought parcels back for this address, taking a picture of it left on the step did not look a very "SafePlace"
