After returning to work after a 6 month sabbatical can you go straight back onto the duty you were doing before you left?Or do you lose your seniority and end up being back at square one? Thanks.

This would depend on your agreement that you signed regarding your sabbatical.Southern_Postie wrote:After returning to work after a 6 month sabbatical can you go straight back onto the duty you were doing before you left?Or do you lose your seniority and end up being back at square one? Thanks.
Your seniority is intact and your contracted hours but returning to the duty you were doing before you left may not be and you may have to be flexible in regards to this matter.
Your pension contributions and employers has been frozen for the time you have been away but this can be rectified by paying into your pension the outstanding amount and this will be made up to date by the employer as if you had never been away.

Depends if your old job is vacant or available. You've lost 6 months seniority . . . and this will be reflected when next there is a revision or repick of duties in your office. Everyone who joined the business 5 months and 30 days after you are now above you on the seniority list. That's the sacrifice for time away ! ! !
