Duty rules and regulations

Hi there, we have a new boss who claims we are not allowed off route for anything. I was under the impression you're meal relief was meant to be taken 'away from the work space', but we're being told we are not allowed to go to the nearest shop to get food or drink etc. Could anyone enlighten me on the actual rules regarding being off route during your meal relief. cheers

the entire unit should return to the office and take the entire 40 minute break half way through there delivery.(2o min part timer) then resume delivery after even if there on a hct duty.

any work that cannot be completed within contracted hours will and should be brought back.

I think 'away from the work space' refers to any breaks you take while at the DO or MC. In other words you should not be sitting on your walk frame eating your sandwich and drinking a coffee. So ideally a canteen if you have one, another room with chairs in the building, or outside or a nearby other location. Given that the PDA can very accurately determine where you are I don't think RM want you leaving your walk route or the route that any absorption or lapsing takes you. We don't get asked this kind of stuff in our DO though. If you managerial staff are being ********* I would suggest 'working to rule' and taking all your break in the vicinity of the DO and only work your duty time.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Just carry on doing what you have been doing previously after all “PDA Actual data CAN NOT be used for disciplinary purpose”

I bet it will be especially if the DOM has it in for you. Its just another tool for B&H. So very unfair and very wrong but I can see it happening. :no no

Yeah, see, that’s thrown around a lot, but actually, it goes like this:

1. PDA actuals provide intel on dodgy practice (where dodgy practice not necessarily going off route, just imagine anything that you’re saying the PDA can’t be used against you for);

2. Managers get intel;

3. Managers eyeball you next day doing dodgy practice;

4. You get done by witness evidence, rather than PDA evidence.

Ya gets me.

The agreement actually states that it can under certain circumstances.
It just doesn't state what those circumstances are.

2 weeks ago a road got shut on my duty due to a vehicle getting stuck under a bridge, under that rule you'd have to sit and wait instead of finding an alternative way around,
some dom's and lino's just appear to be "the big i am" and get a kick out of causing grief

The meal relief situation 'should' already be in your 318/revision docs/walk log ect so there 'should' not be a problem.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

In my walk log my designated toilet stop is off-route.
