My collegue told me today that our Rep...told her that once a week a full timer is contractually bound to go over their time by 30 minutes and not get paid if requested....
I told her that literally cannot be true can it??
It came from the reps mouth...

We have someone that has a set Wednesday off and another has a set Tuesday off. Both paid 39 hours.

no, you can be asked to flex up, if there is a need to work over, for example, if there is a lorry break down, but you are entitled to have the 30 mins that you flexed up, returned to you the same week!!!

That sounds like a misinterpretation of the flexibility agreement, where you can be asked(and can refuse with almost any reason) to flex by upto 30mins(this should be recorded, including when they are going to return that time. ie taking a loop off on another day) also this is a two way agreement so you can use it if you need finish early one day by doing a bit extra another day.

If this is the mis information a rep is spouting,God help us.
A stand in manager once tried to get me to go over with the flexibility agreement,but I had kids to pick up so stood my ground,he finally backed down and when my regular manager came back he said it was basically unenforceable as workers have lives and commitments outside work.

again, its a good idea by RM, so long as the employee is willing to do it, you can work an extra 30 mins Thursday and get to go home 30 mins earlier Friday, theyll rarely offer to take it off the front of your duty time. The key thing is, it is optional to do this, if it works for you, do it, if not dont.

is there anything like this for part time also... the amount of times i book OT and then seems to be missing is unbelievable surely if you book OT and the cross it out they should have to tell you

Yes its common courtesy.

It happened to me once, not done overtime since unless I have agreed on how much I will do.
