Obviously on the understanding that there are specific embargoes on taking photographs on Royal Mail property and without sufficient cause or reason it could backfire.

Part Failed/Failed walks is not wilful delay by management no matter how much we want it to be. However, there are specific rules and regulations that managers should follow and failure to do so could result in dismissal from RM, legal action, and RM itself being fined by the regulator.

One of the grey areas of working for Royal Mail seems to be an understanding of all the rules and regulations and ensuring that managers are following them.

For us, its quite straightforward. We inform manager whether we will be working to time and leaving mail/packets or whether we will need overtime to complete. Managers are often quick to offer us the overtime simply just to get the walks cleared. However, the problems arise when staff don't want the overtime or like when the OP mentioned - why on earth would you lapse duties when you know you have a bulk mailing and then inform staff to leave mail behind??

It may not be wilful delay by management but it certainly reeks of bad planning and organisation.

It should be shown as a worlplan failure.

All prepped mail that isn't delivered would be classed as a uso failure.

Assume dom wanted to avoid a uso failure report.

Wonder what they will do when the pda start giving live reports and not 24hrs delay.

Whilst managers hide the truth it's only a matter of time before ofcom start issuing fines.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

How will the pda show that you left the bulk mailing so you could lapse ?

Sure, Royal Mail takes the fact that mail/packets that are still left in frames very seriously. Thats why they are still able to lapse duties and on a daily basis we always get the same scenario - mail and packets left in frames for the following day!! We know this, the unit rep knows this, the line managers know this and the DIM knows this. Heck, even our customers probably know this when their tracked item hasn't arrived. Yet no is actually accountable because there is no real means for us to report such failures. Funny how Royal Mail appear quite fussy about us taking photographic evidence in our offices but they were more than happy for us to take photographic evidence of someone else's package on their own PDA.

Same in my unit, the bills came in to our unit in the sequenced mail and prepped as normal but then the Dom told us to only take the ones which has other mail so we could still lapse. How is this not wilful delay??
