Angard Recruitment, Haven't received confirmation email
I applied for casual work with Angard a couple of months ago and joined their waiting list. Last week I received an email telling me to fill in their questionnaire and work history. But after completing all this, I haven't received any kind of confirmation email, which seems quite odd to me.
Should I have heard from them? (Either telling what to do next or that they will be in touch).

Ring them on Monday.
Similar thing happened to me back in 2016.
“Slipped through the crack “ was how they described it.
Basically they just lost it.
Not a well-organised Agency.

Yeah I'll have to do that, thanks. When I submitted my work history it did say error for a few seconds but when I refreshed the page it said I had already completed the form. I'll give them a ring tomorrow.
Wondering if you could answer a question for me. How does it usually work for casual staff? Is it usually a zero hour contract and they send you an automated text message when you're needed?

Yes. You then call the number and they book you in.
Eventually, Managers may ask for your direct number and ring you to go in. This bypasses ANGARD but you will still be paid
The latter method threw me to start with but now I get most of my shift direct from RM supervisors.

You need to be very careful about RM Managers ringing you directly to book in work and not going through Angard.
1) It is against Angard rules
2) In my mail centre many folk have awful problems getting paid as the shifts have gone through RM Managers and NOT through Angard as they should.
be careful.

It’s far from a problem at my Mail Centre.
Angard seem quite happy to accept the submitted RM Time Sheets as long they are input but an authorised person in the Book Room.

At my mail centre the RM managers are NOT allowed to put Angard workers hours on the time sheets any more.
Everything must go through Angard directly or no pay.
This is being rolled out across all mail centres I am told.

Just to be on the safe side, I'll be sure to accept work from Angard only or at least question it if I'm called by a manager.dancingqueen wrote:At my mail centre the RM managers are NOT allowed to put Angard workers hours on the time sheets any more.

How do you both find working there through Angard? I've only done Christmas work directly through RM and they seemed fine, but do you get regular work from Angard or is it kind of hit or miss? I understand it's casual so wouldn't expect to be working a full week, although it would be good if I could.

To clarify, are you saying that unless a shift was booked through Angard (and not as the result of direct contact from Royal Mail), Angard won’t authorise payment even if it’s on a time sheet?

possible not heard anything regarding this but it used to happen a lot on the shift I work. Manager ringing in staff to come in at short notice . I did do it when I started but no longer am a bit wiser now but I always got paid so no issue. Problem is they cant get there staffing right as long as I have been there have seen this . So they get a shitload of mail some of the RM staff go sick hence big issues with staff and they need bodies at short notice. It should all go through Angard anyway that’s there job I won’t take a shift now unless I’m on the sheet.

Thats exactly what I am saying. Rules have been flouted by RM Managers for ages and Angard are finally clamping down.Lockardian wrote:To clarify, are you saying that unless a shift was booked through Angard (and not as the result of direct contact from Royal Mail), Angard won’t authorise payment even if it’s on a time sheet?
RM Managers booking in shifts directly with Angard employees goes against all the rules and clique's of certain Angard workers/RM Managers clearly happened.
In my local Mail Centre payments are only being guaranteed to Angard workers if BOOKED THROUGH Angard.

In essence this is a good thing for staff who aren’t getting shifts as the managers have favourites. It certainly happens at one of the MCs I work at.
Occasionally I am contacted directly but only when they need weekend staff at short notice. The managers say that the out of hours team at Reed/Angard are pretty useless, and in my experience this seems to be true. They’ve called us in for Saturday nightshift before when the building was actually closed - it was meant to be Sunday nightshift!

It’s pretty ironic considering that ANGARD are 100> owned by RM.
Angard (powered by Reed Rmoyment systems) can huff and puff all they like but, at the end of the day, will do what they are told by RM.
It’s all ‘smoke and mirrirs’ To placate CWU. RM can claim that, legally, they don’t employ casual, zero-hours contract staff. UT they win a gift which dies and which only supplies such staff to its owner!
