We are lead to believe that we can’t have our reduced working time at the end of the duty so we have 4 varying start times from Monday 630 (Mail arrives at 530) and then Tuesday 645 Wednesday 630 and deaf the week,so lots of different alarm clock settings,only on this firm could you get that?.,

Some offices are simply taking 12 minutes off the start time to compensate the hour reduction in October, others are planning how they'd drop to a 35 hour week, and planning different ways of getting there. We already have weird finish times (XX.52, XX.38, XX.43 etc.) and are talking about the same random start times. Regardless, I'm such RMs strategy will be a roaring success and we will have the best Christmas on record.

Mail might be there at 5:30 but what about specials and packets, tracked and the second wave? Thought about that have you?

Each delivery office has been put into one of the following catogaries

1 if you don’t currently operate long and shorts on Monday , Tuesday and Saturday than you be in this one and you will reduce your those days attendance on Monday , Tuesday and Saturday.

2. if your indoor performance under IWT is not good than you will be required to reduce each day of the week by 12 mins per day normally by starting later as this reduces your indoor time.

3. If you don’t fall into the two above than you will take 6 mins of you indoor time and 6 mins off your outdoor in the main this will mean that you start 12 mins later and simply go out on delivery 6 mins later.

In most delivery offices the indoor work is what is reducing , whilst Outdoor is growing. Add to the fact the LAT product will result in later arrivals into Mail Centre and Delivery Offices and of course the future delivery method trails where Royal Mail do not want the first wave of work to be sorted into a frame. This all indicates the SWW should be taken off the front of duties.

The other reason why it needs to be taken from the front if you have CDVs which pair a full timer with a part timer than if you take the time off the finish than the part timer has to have times of attendance changed.

AFAIK the LAT stuff gets sent to DOs which will act as hubs. If they do intend on sending it to MCs to be processed then it either gets to MCs in time to be processed for thr 06:00 dispatches or it will fail. It's as simple as that. With the way Network 18 is panning out it's likely that the LAT, if sent to MCs will always fail, as we're now failing every day, apart from extremely light days and will could even possibly fail 80+ sleeves if it gets too bad during autumn pressure. 06:30 is the latest they can push back the dispatch, any later than that and they may as well axe the 9am specials as a product as they would likely always fail.

We currently have 5 different starting times in a week. Thankfully technology has advanced to phone alarms so I don't have to spend time messing around with one of those old digital clocks and end up setting it wrong. (waits for some old timer to chip in with how lucky I am to have had a digital clock as it was all wind-up ones back in the day

). Rumour has it that our office will be starting 12 minutes later per day to incorporate the shorter week.

Why are people stressing because they now have to work less hours and have more time in bed

We have proposals which will see us starting 15 minutes later Monday and Tuesday and ten minutes later the rest of the week. Nb ten minutes has been taken off Tuesday finishing time and moved into the rest of the working week. Seems Ok to me.
I have a LED alarm clock which my aunt gave to me when I started my first job in the late 1970's!
