Been on here before about me and a fellow colleague doing this,and mentioned to the boss and he seemed uninterested/couldn’t afford it/or just didn’t think we were serious,but trust me we are,both been in some 35 years and at 57 losing keenness on a weekly basis,we wanted to hang on for any evr opportunity that may happen,but get no feedback from boss about the future of our office,any advise would be welcome,should we e Mail it higher to see what reply we get with any options available to us.am sure it can be achieved but he doesn’t seem bothered,he’s been away(not that you’d notice) so will approach him on his return and move this forward,I thought he’s supposed to help you in your later years with options to suit you ?

Request a Flexible Working application either from Manager as they can print of PSP or ask local CWU Rep for forms and help in filling out. Once completed management have 28 days to hold meeting with you and respond to your request.

Many thanks for your info much appreciated,am convinced my boss hasn’t heard us correctly or just not convinced how serious we are,he probably believes it would cost the office money!.

This has happened in our office, two guys in similar situations who just couldn't do full time anymore coz of their health have gone part time and split their duty. They both do three days a week so it can certainly be done. I think it's more a local thing rather than anything official; I don't see why there would be a problem though. I'd suggest perhaps your dom doesn't want the headache of replacing one of you, which he will effetively have to do if you both cut your hours in two. We all know how long it takes Royal Mail to recruit!

Yes am hoping we can sort it,as the boss says it’s not the job for us anymore,still love the job but it’s a gutty slog now and would like to wind down a bit,am sure they can sort something but you’d think we were asking for the world
