Is there a maximum number of delivery points on a lapse duty? My round is an HCT round with 500 delivery points and takes 3 1/2 to 4 hours ive now been told that I have an extra 190 delivery points on the lapsed round is this right?

We've got 4 HCT deliveries with over 900 delivery points (one has over 1000) that take at least 4 hours each and are scheduled to take lapsing. The important point to remember is the lapsing is only meant to be taken if you have time to do it within your duty hours....and therein lies the crux of much of the bullying by management.

if you've got time it wouldn't make any difference how many there is. if its going to take you over then either leave it, or take enough to take you to your time. they CANNOT make you go over.

if we don't do the lapsing, its left in the frame to be taken out the next day. so we're pretty much forced into taking it or we get double the next day, or 3 days worth if we still cant do it and so on...

So what... if you don’t have time to do it, let it pile up! It’s for management to worry about.

some have done before like on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, then Saturday its light and they're forced to take 4 days worth of lapsing. Don't know how RM are getting away with it.

whats your problem , if its light take some if its not leave it .
You don't have to take the lot just till your finish time

I can't believe this, I had to leave two and a half years ago, and still this argument rages on. My argument then was, I'll take it if I have the time, if not you get it back..there's not a thing they can do to you as long as you let them know, and that is the crux, you have to inform them or your deep in it.

WILFUL delay by mgmt if they cant staff up and leave mail in frames for days
cant use lapsing as a reason for mail failures

The replies to this lapsing thread have been spot on,exact and to the point,it’s really not our problem,although at times it does weigh heavy on your conscious and wonder what a company this has become,with management giving you the big statement and looking at you with utter contempt if you won’t dig them out the mess,I think it’s safe to say they’ve cut there cloth a tad too much now,and the once relied good will has sadly gone,which is no surprise,they have an answer for everything,and using a few fellow workers as examples and not the many,just get more and more cynical about everything they have to say now,and beginning to agree with the boss that it’s not the job for me anymore after 37 years

Our place works the other way on this!

We are told that the lapsing takes priority and that it is supposed be done before we start our own delivery. This means that if you have to leave anything, you leave your own stuff on and not the lapsing. That of course means you get a double load on your own round the next day.

no, wrong, lapsing can only be done if you have time within your hours, if you are leaving work in your frame for tomorrow, then you do not have the time to lapse, tell your manager!!!

Today when we rang to confirm we'd be bringing the lapsing back because we wouldn't have time, we were asked to work through our break to get it done.

Pity we'd already had our break.
