what would be acceptable to you on d2ds?

we all know that change is coming with d2ds and that we are to be balloted on the outcome of more discussions, but what would you vote 'yes' to? for me, not getting paid at all is of course a massive no. doing up to 5 lots and only getting paid for 3 is also a no. doing up to 5 lots and getting paid for all of them is also a no for me as i won't have the time to prep them. what i would vote yes to is up to 5 or 6 in one pre addressed sealed envelope with an improved payment for 3 of them (ie above the 1.67p we currently get) i feel everbody would gain in this way. us with slightly more money and much less prepping time, and rm with the ceiling lifted off the amount we do. to be honest if they're in a sealed envelope you wouldn't know if you were delivering 3,4,5 or 6, but obviously no pens or other bulky stuff.

How come when I first started 12 years ago D2D was 1.67 and magically nowadays its still 1.67!!

When I started in 1980, there were 1 pence per item. They could hardly be said to have kept up with inflation. I'd settle for three items a week at 3 pence per item, and we'd still probably be getting ripped off.

I'd vote "YES" to scrapping rubbish nobody cares for, nobody wants, and nobody would miss.

I would accept 5 d2ds and being paid for 3 of them, as long as they came shrink wrapped or enveloped.

RM would gain the extra money for the other 2, minus a small cost for prepping them.
We don't have to prep them, and they are easier to deliver.

Of course, there would have to be a cap on weight.

royal mail d2d's were paid at 4p each to local news paper people but they had to do them seprate from the papers

Most people i speak to regarding D2D say the biggest frustration is having 3 sets per week and no prep time for them. I think one way of keeping people happy would be to see them arrive at DO's in pre sealed envelopes. This would then take away the need for prep and probably make it easier when out on delivery.

All this talk of D2D's coming in a pre-packed envelope doesn't make sense. For one thing we're always told never to fold our existing ones into each other as they may get overlooked by the customer. Also, who would be doing the pre-packing into these envelopes? Whoever it was would need to be paid for doing so, so what would royal mule gain by doing it that way. Unless we didn't get paid at all for them.
Thing is, if royal mule decide to make them part of normal work load, ie. the same as 1st class, 2nd class and all the other sub classes. What's to stop us from cutting them off as well as the normal mail. Put too many on a delivery and the cut offs would be even bigger than they are now. The only reason we begrudgingly do them now is the few extra pence they give us in our measly wage packet.
Royal mule must realise this and will have already thought of some shifty way of making us do them for nothing. Asking anyone to do something for free that they are presently getting paid for isn't the smartest move, they must have thought of ways round it or they wouldn't have brought it up, knowing the reaction it would get.

i would exept a limit of 5 and get paid for all 5 lots aswell...but everybody knows this will never happen..

this will be the next agenda by royal mail..if this new deal gets voted in..give it 6 months max and then royal mail will try to remove the cap and all pay on door to doors..

whats the date today?
5/11/07..give it 6 months from today and i bet you we will be fighting for door to door payments..

Do want them full stop. Dont have them in my house why should i deliver this unwanted crap to other peoples houses. Within the next year councils will be weighing household rubbish and charging accordingly. So more and more people will reject them. If we are not to be paid for them then we should just help the customers to the opt out forms and "lighten our load". Save the planet scrap D2D.

What RM tells you to do one day can very quickly change if they were going to get a load of extra cash off a customer for delivering more D2D.
