Dealing with a difficult customer...

Post by postypie »

Hello guys...need some advice...there is an office block I deliver too (multi occupancy) and usually my driver takes all the packets/overweights/signature items.
The receptionist at ground level used to take these items (sign for) but for whatever reasons doesn't do this anymore.
Anyway...recently pressed the intercom so that they could let me in the building...I waited and waited and waited...this receptionist could see me through the glass but didn't let me in as she was busy on the phone and lambasted me for not waiting longer with the couple of letters I had for other occupiers...which I duly left in the entrance area (which I think has cctv) and happily went on my way...this lady for the 2nd time has took offence to this...asking me why I hadn't waited longer whilst she was on the phone...(she could easily have buzzed me in but chose not too)..she confronted me about this and demanded my full name (yes demanded) so that she could contact Royal Mail and complain about me putting two letters through their letterbox as opposed to waiting several minutes whilst she was on the phone to let me in....(I had always thought our job was to deliver mail through letterboxes or first point of delivery).
Anyway seeing as I wasn't too keen on her somewhat aggressive manner I declined to give my name citing data protection (all I could think of) and the fact she 'demanded' it didn't impress me at all...no doubt she will contact royal mail and complain (other girls there are really nice) but this one seems to have a bee in her bonnet all the time...spoke to my driver who usually goes there who went up to try and smooth things over (or make sure she complained about me and not him as he told me)!!
Would like to know are we at liberty to give our names out to people/customers who basically I find somewhat aggressive or rude at least?

Sometimes I think it's me....but then again a customer of mine last week said I was the best and kindest post person they have ever met!!(Maybe they haven't met many)?lol

Customer always right???

Would like to know if there are waiting limits for customers who are too busy (on the phone) and can't be bothered to buzz me in?

And seeing as it was two letters which I posted through the letterbox and to which this receptionists said it wasn't allowed according to her manager!!!!!!lol

Maybe next time I shall just endorse them refused and leave it to the gaffer to sort out!

And her manager, the job title is the clue, is probably a clueless arsehole so his opinion is just that. an opinion. probably ill informed and self serving.

Two words, the first beginning with "f", the second beginning with " off.
