Meal Breaks for short shifts

Post by bobsworth »

Does anyone know if that table floating around from ca 2010 detailing breaks is still current or has it been superseded by the latest agreement? In this case what is the entitlement for a 3 hour shift if you don't have time to take a break and actually work over 3 hours? Also if a separate 3 hour shift is bolted on as O/T is there an entitlement to breaks corresponding to 6 hours? I've been informed that there are no breaks for less than 4 hour shifts, which is the statutory position.

A 3 hour shift attracts a 10 minute break.
If you work over 3 hours it attracts a longer break. (15 minutes up to 3h 30, 20 minutes up to 4 hours as per The way Forward Agreement)

If you work 3 hours and then 3 hours overtime you are entitled to the break for a 6 hour shift - 30 minutes, unless the overtime is SA which doesn't attract an enhanced meal relief (except on Sunday when it does)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully I can add it to the end of the shift as there isn't time during to take it.
