Not been working here long, but had a thought while out on a walk yesterday and my colleague wasn’t 100% what you’d do in this situation either

Say you have a tracked parcel but there is a dog loose and you can’t post a p739, what’s the procedure for this?

Ahhhh, ok. I just didn’t know how the customer would be alerted to the progress of the item!

Ahhhh, ok. I just didn’t know how the customer would be alerted to the progress of the item!

The customer may get a text or email to say the item wasn't delivered.This happened to one of the firms I deliver to that is closed on Saturday's,I scanned the Item inaccessible and on the following Monday when I arrived the lady was just trying to arrange a redelivery as she had a text on the Saturday (On her mobile at home I presume,or an email at work) to say the item hadn't been delivered.

If you want to 739 something but you can’t actually deliver the card for a reason that might not be present tomorrow, you can fill the card out as normal, tick the box on the back that says “the date on the front of this card may be different to today’s date due to there being restricted access at the time of attempted delivery”

Then put the card in the frame for the postie the next day

We often used to do that for door entry systems but were told the item goes back out for delivery the next day.

Don't you just love Saturdays, when all the parcels that have been ordered by the girls who work in offices turn up? Unfortunately because the offices are shut you end up 739ing the lot. On Monday you get them all complaining because they'd asked for their stuff to be delivered to where they work.... and now they haven't got them..... and they've got to go to the Royal Mail Delivery Office. Worse still they go to the Post Office (because they didn't read the card)

When they do finally go to the Delivery Office it's shut (because they haven't read the card) or they haven't taken any ID (because they haven't read the card)……….. and it's all your fault. Happy Days.
