It depends how long into your shift you were when the accident happened. You must have taken at least 20 minutes break within the first 6 hours. The PDA data can tell whether you stopped for a break, but I’m pretty certain they aren’t allowed to use it for disciplinary purposes yet.

Why would not having a meal break have anything to do with a accident ? Managers would have to enforce breaks if it was against any R/M rules or illegal.

Who's to say you didn't have a break before leaving the office?

It would be if fatigue was a cause of the accident.cpsteve wrote:Why would not having a meal break have anything to do with a accident ?
As far as I am aware the Working Time Directive is law and as such the meal relief on a 6- hour day should not be at the start or end of the shift.
If RM was a professional organisation then the meal relief would be enforced but it isn't.
The maximum working hours was ignored for years until there was a serious accident. Now you can't work more than 70 hours/week. (Unless you are a gaffer's favourite and they allow you to roll hours over)
But as ever RM is reactive and not proactive.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What percentage of my posts are "complaining"?
No.

I doubt many "professional organisations" would be on your back for not taking a break. If you're supposed to take a 20 minute break and you choose not to then it's on you.clashcityrocker wrote:If RM was a professional organisation then the meal relief would be enforced but it isn't..

Then those "professional organisations" would be unprofessional in disregarding the health & safety of their own employees & others their employees come into contact with.omega wrote:I doubt many "professional organisations" would be on your back for not taking a break.
