On sick leave over bank holiday

Quick odd question, If you were on sick leave over the bank holiday Monday do you still get a lieu day or would the bank holiday have to have been your day off?

I think usually when Postie's are on sick when they are due to be on AL they get those AL days back to rebook at a later date. So if you were ill and that carried on into the bank holiday I guess you would get another day in lieu. I'm not sure though.

On calculating the amount of sick days involved in the absence it would be when you went off till the day of your return to work.
Somewhere in there would have been a national holiday which you missed out on.
There wouldn't be a stop/start in the absence therefore the national holiday would be credited to you in your holiday entitlement.

We are not entitled to bank holidays during a period of sick absence, this is because non working days, rest days and public holidays are included as part of the sick absence period and are paid at sick pay rate not normal rate. The only exception would be if a bank holiday was at the beginning or end of a period of sick absence and you were not scheduled to attend.

This is covered in the sick absence policy document.
