MRM.COM : Employee survey 2018 results are now available

The results of the 2018 Employee Survey are now available. This year, 82% of colleagues shared their views on what it’s like to work at Royal Mail.

Our three main scores - employee engagement, culture and customer focus - have all improved compared to last year.

Employee engagement: 59 (+2 points). Questions around overall job satisfaction, motivation and personal fulfilment in your current role all had higher scores compared to last year.

Culture: 53 (+3 points). More colleagues said Royal Mail values diversity and there were higher scores for supporting and listening to each other.

Customer focus: 70 (+ 1 point). More colleagues have an understanding of customer needs and awareness of customer performance measures.

The survey also highlighted key areas we need to work on. These include: feeling valued and recognised, our culture, and trust and security.

The most important part of the survey is acting on the results. This year, more people said they had seen last year’s results and had been involved in action planning.

You can find out more information about this year’s Group-wide results in this week’s RMtv. Your Employee Survey results home mailing will be arriving at homes in early June.

Team results are also available and your manager will be sharing them with you very soon.

Wheres all bullying and harassment issues been hidden. The vast majority of postie's I speak to hate the job. There keeping all the negative stuff hidden.

Should be interesting as all ours went back blank,I really wish they would stop the dance on this,it’s boring now,they really need to grasp the concept that our issues and concerns are never addressed and fixed,that’s the plain truth of of it,a tick box exercise that’s lacking in bite and time and resources to put right,the same answers to the same questions year after year,with the so called action plan looking nice on the notice board just for show simple as that,all talk and no substance I’m afraid,Dom has his brief from above and dare not deviate from it .we rarely engage in banter with him now,usually because he’s not at our office long enough to string a sentence together,and we get the same old counter argument regarding loaning lapsing,overtime,the times he thinks we all finish etc,it’s tiring and soul destroying.

I'm one of the 18% that didn't want to share my views this year!

For many years I've thought, "Well if no one tells them what they think is wrong, nothing's going to get done about it". And I've sat there and filled it in with genuine comments...… and nothing changes.

From now on I've decided not to waste my ink (after ready comments about spoiled, or blank, surveys being counted as "Replies", or even being filled in by the DOMs

) I'm sure we all realise it's just a Bullshit Exercise. Now I take it home and bin it. I'm sure we'll soon be watching some RMTV propaganda telling us how wonderful everything is.

We have a higher up person in RM coming to visit us tomorrow because the results of our employee survey are too good and they want to investigate it. Bang goes keeping under the radar. The person was meant to arrive on Tuesday but they have moved it to Thursday. Trouble is after two quiet days we just know we will be walled under with mail tomorrow.

The trouble with the employee survey results mailing is that it usually just cherry picks the best results. They really need to print out a sheet with all the results on it.

I firmly believe that they really don't give a damn about the results. It's merely a formality so that RM can say that they are "communicating with their employees" , and listening to their feedback. Have you noticed the little messages that have started to appear on your payslips? The last one I noticed was about how Diversity makes us Stronger and suggest a video for you to watch. Now who the hell rushes home to view a RMTV video after a busy day out on delivery?

Again just a Bullshit Excercise to try and show how good our "Communication" is.

For the second year running those taking part is down by 1% to 82% .

EDIT;
An estimation of 2,000 fewer employees who took part this year

The figures of 117,000 & 115,000 are quoted by Royal Mail

2017 total number of employees = 141,000 x 83% = 117,030

Assuming reduction of 750 employees

2018 total number of employees = 140,250 x 82% = 115,005

So you either book overtime or bring it back You surely wouldn't try and shoehorn more work into your day?

We listened and discussed while sorting our walks out. I'm not entirely sure they got answers they wanted or needed. We haven't got hold of the survey results ourselves to dissect anyway yet.
