What happens to pay when hours are reduced to 38

So we have now got our payrise. Will we effectively see a drop in pay when the 38 hour week is introduced? As currently we are working on a 39 hour contract will we basically loose an hours pay come October?

Simple answer no only your hours are reducing. while pts pay will go up think its 2.6%

No.All staff who currently have a 39 hr contract will see no change to their pay and allowance when the hour reduction comes in this October.
Part time staff will see an increase of approx 2.6% in their salary.

Also, the hour lost will be agrees locally. So expect starting twelve minutes later or taking half hour off Tuesday and a Saturday

Every postie should really know about this especially any who voted on the recent pay agreement. Never blindly follow what the union tell you or instruct you to do. They have their own agenda.
Full timers will not lose any pay as a result of any work hours lost due to the SWW(Shorter Working Week) plan negotiated by the union. Part timers get an additional pay increase to level them so they don't lose out. We have had one out of the five SWW hours implemented so far in the previous pay agreement. When that happened I think most offices took 12 minutes per day off the start times so ours went from 0600 to 0612 every working day. To collect that time up and add it to the supposedly quieter days is problematic as Saturdays can often be the busiest day of the week
Where offices are so busy that the effects of further SWW hours removed will make duties impossible to achieve more paid work hours will be added to office budgets. We have been told this from further up the managerial chain. In short there is apparently no bad side to the SWW plan so you don't need to worry about this. Just save your worrying for a lot of the other changes in the pipeline.

I know it won't be this year, but If and when we lose paid breaks, I would consider that a drop in wages.

I can't see us ever going below a 38hr week without losing paid breaks.

Your pensionable pay will go down by an hour and eventually 4 hours (if it all goes to plan) so how about 1 hour less pension
contributions and delivery supplement paid, eventually 4 hours loss of contributions/payments if we go down to 35 hours...??

Pay rise might make up for it in the short term but you can be sure that the bean counters have worked out over the long term that the reduced
employer pension contributions will be more than the pay rise.

A common term bandied about during the negotiations was that your pension is deferred wages - well guess what - your pension will be worth
less because of the reduced pension contributions based on your pensionable pay working hours.

Rmtv processing 7th May 2018 Simon Barker stated ;

“In the way forward agreement we have commitments of between 5 & 7 hours people get 30 minutes & then between 7 & 8.59 minutes they get 40 minutes breaks and that will continue to be honoured. Within the mail centres & RDC’s we’re building a relaxation allowance its roughly 13 per cent but it does change depending on the nature of the job...”
