Formula for Calculating IHR - Ill Heath Retirement Question.

Hi all

I'm getting conflicting information on IHR payments, almost everyone I speak to, union rep, colleagues, former colleagues who have been through it, everyone has a different opinion on what sort of payout I will receive when my employment ends.

I'm part time, 25 hours a week, and been with RM as a postman for 4 years 4 months. I have been off with a health problem for about 8 months, OH assist feel I am too sick to return, as does my GP, and myself.

Is there a standard formula for calculating the ill health retirement payment, If so what is it?

34 weeks of basic pay at whatever you normally earn for your week plus PILON (pay in lieu of notice) which is another 9 to 12 weeks on top of this depending on your length of service and as you have worked 4 years
would probably be 9 weeks so you should get 43 weeks of your basic pay.

Thanks Patrick, confirms what I suspected, although some are still adamant I'll get nowhere near that for reasons they can't elaborate on

I have just got it and it was 34 weeks plus 12 weeks pillion plus 5weeks leave you have to pay tax and nat ins on your pillion and annual leave I came out with just over 21000 if that any help

To get that amount you must have been on F/T hours.

" Pleased but sticky" is on p/t contract 25 hrs p.w. so that would approx. be £ 13500
