When you fill your vacant duties with reserves for six months, would you use seniority? It doesn't specify in the Way Forward.

Reserves on Vacant Duties
I've got someone saying that because it doesn't specify in the agreement, we should try some other method, one suggestion being to pull names out of a hat (!), or to do it on 'juniority'. Using seniority combined with hours and skills seems the most straightforward method to me, so just wondering how it's done elsewhere.

Most things are done on seniority except specialist jobs of course.
There is no the harm of going down the reserve list in seniority order to find out who wants it.

When I first started all those years ago ( I even still had a head of hair in those days) , seniority was everything. Holidays was picked on seniority. All duties now are picked on seniority ( and rightly so) .as I understand it if vacant duties should be advertised for everyone to apply for. Being a reserve is how we all started, the can put you on anything they like. When the vacant duties are advertised apply for them it's the only way of ever getting a walk of your own.

Would usually put one of the reserves that has already been trained to do said round given that there is usually not much time spare to do training.

You don't really need training if you're working with the duty holder, to be fair. I'm a reserve myself, I don't expect training every time they put me on a duty I haven't done before, as long as I'm with someone who knows it.
