Easily solved by installing internal cab cameras in all vans “for your security”.

and I would be careful in doing anything like that as you may find yourself in the office trying to explain why it wasn't on

, so why would you do that ? do you have something to hide ? do you use the methods , take a break , and do you work your paid hours ? I think its a good thing as it will even dutys out in the office and if they cant they may have to invest and put more in , simple.

So if they use this to even duties out but some people still take hours more to deliver there rounds should they be able to claim overtime if others can complete? Or should they be told they can't claim because they are obviously just slow as all the rounds are equal and other people can get done on time?

A round that some say is too big is often fine when someone else does it,and I'm not talking about a runner being on it so should that round be made smaller just because some people work slower? Some rounds would have to be tiny for some people in my office to complete them on time and that's just because they are slow

PDAs actuals is basically a spy in your hand. It will not work out how RM expects. All it will do is make postie's do the job complely by the book ie using trolleys , having Thier breaks, van checks, not rushing to finish early, trying neighbors with packets etc. The way your supposed to do the job. There will be no point finishing early , all they will do is send you out with more work. So instead of them thinking we will get more out of people they will get less, more cutting off, less loops to deliver etc. They will track everybody over time, the early finishers, the we can't completers etc. But in the long run it should be beneficial, we all should be doing exactly the same amount of work, all walks the same time etc. It should work out fair !!!!!!.

Out of genuine curiosity (couldn't give a stuff if/when they're watching me) but just how accurate is the tracking?...

Can 'they' see 'real time' exactly where you are?
Or is it more case of logging the time and location every time the PDA is used?

Im sure they could do but i think the doms will get the information the next day on a dashboard showing the data

But if all walks are equal why should somebody who works at a slower pace be paid more for doing the same work assuming everyone will be doing the the job "properly"? Why should they get excess overtime when someone else finishes on time? You can see why royal mail want us to own the workload, which im sure they will get at some point

Some hrs ago a friend of mine cycled from St Alban's near me to Carlisle , he sent me a link to his location and I was able to log onto the App he used and could track him in real-time as he cycled along . I actually rang him at one point and checked on its accuracy and it was virtually spot on

The problem is some people are slow and some are naturally fast , the Dom's don't seem to understand this. Some walks are done on time, but if you get a slowie then they can't, there's nothing the Dom's can do about it. Postie's do Thier best slow or quick. I think the PDAs have GPS in them so they can track everything you do. If you have a break for 40 minutes, you go off you duty they will no about it, if you turn your pda off they will no. It basically tracks everything you do. No finishing early , no shopping in Tesco's etc.

Plenty of apps around these days giving live tracking, and obviously the installed satnav uses the same technology
