Less than 10% of my customers do a signature on the PDA , maybe a lot less. Most just put a squiggle. This must be replicated throughout the country. The notion people sign is a complete fantasy - like the emperors clothes. Obviously because Signed fors cost extra, Royal Mail are going to maintain the fiction. We are so behind the curve with this its unbelievable.

Have you never signed for an item from another delivery company? I cover myself by inputting the name given, whatever the "customer" wants to put in the box is fine by me

I had a customer sign for a item with a squiggle and a couple if days later, say they didn't get the item and didn't recognise the Signiture. Manager looked at the GPS noticed I was outside their house and told them to do one

I Dont think you can get a decent signature on one of those things if you tried,they all say that dosen,t look like my signature.

The pda should take a photo of their face as they sign the screen

I don't think it really matters what brand/model of PDA or what software is on it (be it one used by RM or one used by another courier)

Results of writing on the PDA are extremely variable. Sometimes it comes out really well but more often if doesn't. When it does work the new PDA gives a better result than the old ones. You get the worst result when there are raindrops on the screen. Other than an occasional better signature the old PDAs worked better than the new ones in every other respect.
As long as you press the 'DONE' button on screen while at their front door or immediately outside their property you are covered and should not be able to get into trouble. The GPS is extremely accurate on the new PDAs.

Had a special delivery signed for by ex boyfriend of customer with a squiggle. She claimed to have not received it and no one of my description lived at the address. Guess what pda confirmed I was right outside front door and next door neighbour said the description of him I gave was her ex who pops back now and again to see the kids. BOOM!!!

What about privacy? What if you don't want your photo taken? What are they going to do with the photo? Can of worms that is.

quite right mate and you will get quoted in a min by someone saying if you have not done ought wrong nothing to worry about but i do not want my photo taken by someone i don,t know or trust I.E Royal mail and such there is enough surveillance now .feel better now

i dont know why we offer a signed for service for small items, why not just a tracked item with no signature for items that fit through through most letterboxes.
