Clocking off

It pains me to say this but if our office is anything to go by it's time we had a clocking out system so nobody can leave early without losing pay. People being allowed to leave early is encouraging staff to start early, throw in d2ds in their own time,rush around cutting corners giving unrealistic delivery times and much more. This all puts enormous pressure on anyone doing the job correctly including regular conflict with managers, whilst they are leaving sometimes over an hour before they should. The guy covering my day off is making so many mistakes it's unreal badly impacting our customer service but this is all accepted as he takes his lapsing. As i said it pains me to say this as we have all benefited from being allowed to leave early but it's having a really negative effect, particuarly on the older guys, discuss please.

Unaware of the introduction of the Automated Data Capture becoming a reality as it is still open for discussion in the conditions of the latest agreement but if it becomes a reality then staff leaving before their finishing time will be questioned.

Data capture is being used make no mistake cuts will be the outcome managers will be under pressure to cut out o/t and absorb more during the quiet times. Early finish = more work.

Sooner the better if it stops all bosses favourites doing little deals like going out in their own cars to do their overtime on the way home

they've been using pda actuals since the agreement was agreed as they need to look at where the hours will be lost in Oct , so no more flyers or ghosting o/t for the elite posties

, lets hope the clocking in and clocking off comes in asap as well so everybody working there paid hours and its about time.

You may be waiting a while for your utopia to arrive, dingo said in the union room the group's set up to roll the PDA actual usage for resourcing out have been stood down because the union and royal mail can't agree on how it will be used. A few people in the trial areas have said that the managers have been challenging people who regularly claim or cut off using the data so that might point to what the actuals will be used for. Not just to stop people ghosting and going home 30 minutes early

not long I hope and its not just down to pdas , we claim everyday and when your on delivery for 6 - 6+ hours everyday due to the size of the delivery , pkts , parcels , 2d scans , and claim everyday and you have people sat at home at 1 o clock on the same pay as you and some have been paid o/t , thats what pisses me off , I don't care if they start early and work for nowt for what reason ? run round with bags on backs and refuse to use lwts ? , don't take any meal breaks for what reason ? , it doesn't mean your s**t at your job and it doesn't mean there great . and this is what needs sorting out , how many big companys do you know that sign a bit of paper ( when they can be bothered ) on starting and finishing work ? clocking in and out will stop all this s**t and ensure people work there paid hours , so whats the problem with that ?

Why bitter ?

I used to run around but not anymore as ageing body means I'm just not as quick , still see others running / rushing and coming in early " to get ahead " . Not bothered about that but it makes me look slow although I keep a decent pace up however the Dom thinks we could also do more despite the fact he knows some rush and cut corners.

I like to go home early of course but if you do the job as RM want then not much time to be made these days , happy to work my hours but don't want pressure to rush around

Oh well that must mean I'm a lazy postman as well then , what with me starting on time , using a LWT and taking my meal relief ( I know taking my meal relief ) , what a lazy world we live in when people do their job correctly !

But what about when people do more in their contracted hours than somebody who is rubbish? Is it then fair for them both to be paid the same amount?
