After hearing this I feel sick!
How the feck can the our top bods think this is a good deal?
I am going to convert this and stick it on a CD and play it in my office. About 5 mins towards the end the manager giving the brief talks about deliveries possibly being over 5 hours long.
As a Union Rep, all my arguments will be fecked as our hands are being tied.

I cannot believe what I just listened to...One we know we have been lied to over this by the managements spin machine from day one, with the constant "no money in the pot, we've made a 70m loss over the last financial period"....Now with an impending ballot upon us we have here the revelation that we will not be voting on the pay and modernisation and pensions seperately but as one thing.....I am astonsihed as a rep that we have been misled so blatantly by our Negotiatiors, if they haven't milsled the memebership over this then they must be incredibly naive in thinking the consultation is anything but lip service.
To quote the manager giving the conference call "the pension is a mill stone around our necks" well forgive me for not giving a monkey's if it's a mill stone around your neck but it was managements idea to have a break coupled with the governments turning a blind eye to the extensive holiday they had from contributing. My manager keeps telling me they can't be held responsible for what happened in the past, yet we're the ones who are having to pay the price for such avaricious and incompetent managers who brought us to this position....I think we need to get someone with a legal working knowledge of pensions <outside of the CWU> to listen to this as I am pretty sure some of what they are trying to do is not quite kosha.
I also think we should make this available to every journo that supported us and wrote about the action <mainstream and others too> Time to take the fight to them and shove this in their faces, time to make the lies and the deciet public, and time to let the public know exactly what kind of managment and government we have.

Crackerjackpencil wrote:I understand what you're saying, but for next weeks WTL at my mail centre I will be sitting through a dvd presentation on the pension changes and how they "WILL" effect you...Not if you vote "yes" this is how they will effect your pensions.
I know exactly what you are saying but 6 months ago we were having presentations in WTL about moving our shifts by 2 hours, we have been told they did not make a profit, we were repeatedly told there was 'simply no more money'
I'm not saying this is an ideal situation but nobody should base any decisions now or in the future based on Royal Mails view?

I'm not basing them on Royal mails view. I'm sat here with my old deal pamphlet that we had when we were being asked to strike, and I'm reading the "new" agreement, plus the joint statements...Which is exaclty what i've told each and every memebr who has asked me which way to vote to do....At then end of the day it's down to the individual to make the choice, I do my best to answer their questions without being biased one way or the other. But I ma finding it increasingly difficult to keep my tongue between my teeth over this, and I'm only the learning rep for the office.

The quality was such that I have no doubt it is genuine though how it was done is beyond me. The factor that swung it for me was the fact that on the question time I only understood one bloke - the others must have been speaking gibberish. The guy in charge of the call wasn't a particularly good speaker either.
It really IS as we thought, a total stitch up. We have been lied to by both the CWU and Royal Mail. We always knew there was another level to their agenda, and now we have it:
Summer Savings with up to 5 hr deliveries
Covering sick and holiday absence
Consultation NOT negotiation - if it fits the work plan it's in if it fits the employee it's out
Total flexibility, annualised hours, monthly pay
Broom, ar*e, road, bend, assume the position

Lovejoy....... this call was yes intentional, but leaked without the masters consent ...... the area manager has be rebuked at length over it iv'e had info about this from members who insit that this is 100% genuine it and i belive hails from wales.
But it's an insight to the depth of indiference that prevails within royal mail and indeed the contempt they show for the C.W.U membership
What everyone must do is to get the membership at your local offices to listen to it even if they only listen to the key points
This call was only recorded a few days ago !!!!!

Yes the manager may have been rebuked for it but it wasn't leaked by accident my friend. The number / password was given to a senior rep and they were asked to pass it around.axeman wrote:Lovejoy....... this call was yes intentional, but leaked without the masters consent ...... the area manager has be rebuked at length over it iv'e had info about this from members who insit that this is 100% genuine it and i belive hails from wales.

The manager was only pulled into line when senior RM managers realised what an adverse affect it could have on anyone voting on the agreement
