As a reserve I am still entitled to my 2 in 6 restdays.yes?,this means I get two Saturdays off in 6 weeks with one of the weeks I get two days in same week, why is the Dom not giving me the two Saturdays, he's put me on a walk which should have the Saturday rd but he has changed it to today bank holiday,am I right in thinking that this is not right,my understanding is I should get the rest day of the duty I'm covering.

Don’t you mean 1 in 6 or 1 in 4?WRIGHT88 wrote:As a reserve I am still entitled to my 2 in 6 restdays.yes?,this means I get two Saturdays off in 6 weeks with one of the weeks I get two days in same week, why is the Dom not giving me the two Saturdays, he's put me on a walk which should have the Saturday rd but he has changed it to today bank holiday,am I right in thinking that this is not right,my understanding is I should get the rest day of the duty I'm covering.

Then you can't help me then can you, don't know how your restdays work but thought my explanation was quite clearjoewyan wrote:2 in 6? Never heard of this anywhere! No it wasn’t clear which is why I asked. Looking at the lack of responses I’m not the only one. Maybe instead of giving me a rude response you could have explained differently and I could have tried to help but don’t worryWRIGHT88 wrote:Then you can't help me then can you, don't know how your restdays work but thought my explanation was quite clearjoewyan wrote:2 in 6? As a reserve you should get roughly the same amount of Saturdays off as the duty holders.
While it may not be exactly 2 sat's off in 6 weeks the average you get over the year should at least be similiar-ish, it's only fair is it not.
This takes some kind of workings out by the rep, manager, or whoever allocates the reserve's duties.
Get a seniority list of the reserves.
Go down the list so they reserves get the pick of what duties are available for the next week.
They should then in the interest of fairness...
Have the day off of the duty they are covering,if it's 'Bobs' duty and it's a Sat off then they have that.If 'Bob' was on it he would have that day off wouldn't he!A good rep should ensure this!
Get some kind of aggregate list, that way you can keep an eye on who's had Sat's off,if some, even if they are low on seniority in the list have not had a Sat off for a while then they get priority.
It's not hard to do and doesn't take long and it works.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
